This 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe is similar to the one we featured a few days ago, but only in terms of the shared model name and drivetrain. This example is much more of a driver-quality car, but one that still has low mileage and extensive documentation. The seller notes it sat for a few years in beautiful northern California, which is probably one of the best places for a car to be if it’s going to be parked for an extended period. This one has some interesting decor reflecting the tastes of a previous owner, but those custom touches can be reversed. Find the Thunderbird here on craigslist in Monterey for $5,500.

As you can see, the factory Turbo Coupe badges have been removed in favor of letting the world know that this car belongs to Rickey. The chrome five-point alloys are exactly the sort of wheel I’d expect Rickey to put on his Turbo Coupe, and it appears he or another previous owner also deleted (or painted over) the original black/red pinstriping that wrapped around the lower panels of the doors and bumpers. It’s too bad, as the details that set this car apart as a genuine Turbo Coupe have been muted, at least from a visual perspective. The good news is the turbocharged drivetrain remains unaffected and that it’s equipped with the preferred five-speed manual.

The interior sports sharp gray and black leather seating surfaces that remain in good shape with matching door panels and carpets. The factory floor mats also appear to be in good condition, and there’s no evidence of any major alterations to the interior. The factory radio remains installed, which is shocking considering Rickey seemed like the kind of guy who’d want an aftermarket stereo in his car. The lid of the storage bin in the console is fairly tired, so perhaps a junkyard replacement can be sourced. The seller includes photos that show a massive stash of records and brochures, so it seems likely this car was loved before being parked.

Being parked is what likely caused the paint to look so dull in pictures, and this is yet another case of wondering why the seller didn’t pay someone $100 (or do it himself) to bring back some of the original shine. Thankfully, the original badges are included, but you will have to source replacement wheels and new side cladding if you want the Turbo Coupe to appear factory correct once more. Still, with under 60,000 miles and seemingly no drivetrain mods, those are small prices to pay to own a Thunderbird of this generation that still has plenty of good miles left.
