Low Mileage Wagon: 1969 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser

This 1969 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser is in amazing original condition. It has only seen 57,000 miles since new and has been parked in a barn in Colorado. Apparently it was originally sold in New York, but then made the journey to Arizona before ending up in Colorado. The second owner has decided to part ways with it and has listed it here on eBay.

The Vista was designed to haul the whole family in comfort and offered plenty of room to carry nine. This one’s interior appears to be in very nice condition, although the driver’s seat is in need of some attention. The seller claims that all the electronics, except for the clock, work as they should. The interior color might get old on those long trips, but who knows, it might grow on you.

There were several engine options for the Vista Cruiser, but this one came with the base 350 cui V8. The seller claims that it runs and drives nicely. The engine bay looks very tidy and just needs a good bath. The seller doesn’t state whether any service work has been done to it recently, so I would be sure to find out. If it has been parked for any period of time, it’s likely the brakes will need to be serviced.

These are slowly becoming more collectable, as original examples like this one are getting hard to come by. Many were abused by the whole family, but obviously this one was well cared for. With a little work and a good cleaning, this could make for a great family wagon. You would definitely be the only family on the block driving a nine passenger wagon with skylights! Anyone have any good stories of hot rodding the family’s Vista Cruiser?

Next door neighbors had one of these. Many good memories of riding in the folding rear seat.

Great car, brings back a lot of memories. In 72′ they made a Hurst one, FE block (455) same as the convt pace cars that year with earlier heads, sleeper time if it wasnt for the paint job & ram air hood scoops haha.

Cue the Griswalds! I love it. I’d happily find room in the garage for it- if I wasn’t on the other
side of the world from it.

Vista Cruisers were cool then and they are even cooler now. Can’t be too many originals out there. Nice find!

Don’t forget the swinging or drop down tailgate. An innovation at the time. Ours was harvest gold and 400ci. Oh the memories. You could really light up those tires.

Very cool wagon. Why is the tailgate so nasty compared to the rest of the car, was it stored sticking out of a short garage?

We had a 69 VC the exact same color as this car. One smooth ride. The timing chain went out at about 60k miles.

We grew up in the VC. The motor we had was the 455 rocket. It was a beast!! Floor it, wait a couple of seconds, and you were thrown back into the seat. I remember it would kick out of one of the gears at about 95, then I would watch the speedo head for the bottom of the indicator way past the 120 mark.
