Bet I know what you’re thinking- another one?!  Yep, June has been a heavy month for Monte Carlo SS Aerobacks here on Barn Finds, with three of these large rear window cars featured this month already, and June’s only about half over!  I don’t know why all of a sudden there’s been so many of these coming out of the woodwork such as this 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe here on Craigslist, but I’m always happy to see them as they’re one of my favorite GM offerings from the 80s decade.  Plus the Aerocoupe models are quite a bit rarer than fourth-generation Monte Carlo Super Sport cars with the standard back glass, so you’ll definitely stick out in a crowd in this one.  The Chevy is located in Lakeville, Massachusetts, with the asking price set at $21,500.

Mitchell G., thanks for the tip!  So this one’s got a couple of unusual features, such as the lower body molding kit, which I keep staring at and can’t decide if I’m feeling it or not.  Think I’m kind of missing the red stripes down there most of the white cars originally came with, and maybe if they were added I’d like the side looks more.  But I am impressed with the overall exterior condition, which still has the factory finish and just a few chips and small dings, but nothing I could spot that seems like a major issue.  The seller says he’s owned the car for the past 30 years and that it’s been stored inside under a cover.

Everything inside is stated as all original as well, with the seller pointing out that his car has an uncommon 60/40 split bench seat and no tilt steering column.  I’d probably prefer buckets and the adjustable wheel myself, but one thing that is growing on me is the sunroof, which is power-assisted and was dealer-installed.  It doesn’t look like a whole lot of effort was made to clean up the interior prior to the photo shoot, but at least it’s being presented honestly and seems to just be showing some normal wear.

These came equipped with a 305, and while it didn’t exactly deliver breathtaking performance most other cars from the mid-eighties didn’t either, and for the time period, 180 horsepower was fairly respectable.  The seller says the engine is all original and starts and runs 100%, and 76,000 miles isn’t a lot for 35+ years of service.  OK, so maybe I do like the other white Aeroback a little better, but this one seems like a worthy contender as well if you’re in the market for one of these plus it’s also priced 25% less.  I’d like to own them both, but that’s not going to happen, and I’m guessing they’ll each be gone pretty quickly.  What are your thoughts on these cars?
