This 1993 Ford Mustang has 871 original miles on the odometer and is basically a new car. Found here on eBay with a current bid near $50,000, the car is being sold from a private collection in China Grove, North Carolina. Said to have been stored in a climate controlled garage since new, this looks like one amazing survivor!
The interior is grey leather with a sunroof and a power driver’s seat. There is a ton of documentation with the car including a certificate from Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT) documenting the authenticity of this Mustang.
The car still has the original window sticker. It shows a sticker price of $21,257 which is about $37,000 in 2018 dollars. Not a bad investment over the past 25 years. How many of you could resist driving this car more than 35 miles per year? I know I couldn’t!
If I were married to JLo, I could probably resist driving that car….
Nice time capsule. Would have to drive it and drive it. I’ll take the ’62 Impala behind it as well.
I’m still blown away by people who obviously have too much money. Sorry, but I just don’t see it. I could think of a lot of ways to blow that kinda of money that would be a lot more fun!!!
Granted, it’s a nice ‘time machine’, but a 90s Mustang?? I don’t see $50k here. Tho as my Pops always said “there’s a sucker born every minute” There are better cars for that kinda money.
I am a GM guy. If there was a car to buy at that time, it was this one. Go find another one, unrestored, under 1000 miles for less money.
Because someone has some money, their “dream car” may be different than your dream car. If this is someones dream car they might pay a lot more for it.
These Mustangs from 88 to 93 a cult cars to many. This one has all the right options and a decent color. By in large very fast, can do a lot with them and they are a lot of fun. At least I think I noticed that this has a manual trans!
There’s no such thing as too much money.
When you have $50,000 to spend on a 1993 Mustang, you have TOO MUCH MONEY. The real value of a car like this, I believe, is best ascertained by the writer of this article found in Hagerty News. True transparency, Hagerty insures my classic….www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2018/09/18/determining-of-real-value-of-your-classic?utm_source=SFMC&utm_medium=email&utm_content=18_September_21_HagertyNews+_Unengaged
Very interesting car! First year of the return of the Cobra name, unlike the late 70’s “Cobra II” models, this one actually had some muscle to back it up. There is no way I could have owned this car and not driven it!
The cobra name was used in 79 until 82/3 when it was replaced by the “GT”
The cobra name was applied to the 1979-1983ish mustang before the GT name was brought back.
True Andrew, but it was still a warmed over Mustang during that time frame. The GT came back in ’82. My Uncle had an ’83 GT that he drove for several years. When the car in this car came out it was a big deal because it was a massaged SVT Mustang, which definitely made it unique compared to even the GT of ’93.
Very strong car in the day, and I’d own one in a heartbeat. I believe there was some controversy over the claimed output, and what they actually produced that Ford had to make good on.
No, that was the later model 1999 Cobra.
No, that was the later model 1999 Cobra that had the horsepower problems.
As others have stayed, that was the later 1999 SVT Cobra (supposedly with 320HP vs. 305 before). The only thing weird in 1993 was that the GT was downrated from 225HP to 205HP with absolutely no engine changes. This 1993-only Cobra had 235, so it was kind of confusing – vs. 1987 to 1992 Mustang GTs, this seemed like only a 10HP bump, but it was actually 30HP after the downrating.
I think many here are missing the fact that this is an SVT Cobra, which is regarded as far and away the best-driving Fox Mustang and was sought after for it’s sublety, too, given tail lights and other parts “toned down” vs. GT.
A beautiful car but 50 grand I believe could buy you a 2000 Cobra R with low miles.
What a out standing car sure to go up in value.
I just do not see it, Current bid:US $49,900.00

I love the Fox bodied Mustangs but not a big fan of the hatchback. The hatch squeaked and rattled over bumps. The hatchback also had too much road noise from the inside rear and too much body flex compared to the notchback. I really wish they made the 93 Cobra on the notchback body!
Not just any Mustang. It’s a first-year SVT Cobra, which is way more interesting than a run of the mill GT. Pretty big deal, in Ford and muscle-car circles. I’m not surprised it’s hitting 50 large.
This is true and important for the points you made but in my opinion I prefer the hatchback as having a TON more utility (the trunk opening is useless) with the seats folding down as well and I have always preferred a Mustang fastback over a trunk model …..but hey,…..that’s just me.
For your points made, which are true and great, that is why the trunk model is in such high demand to build as a race car over the hatchback.
Back in 93 I was active with the Dallas area Shelby club. For many years they held a regional event at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis Tx. It was set up with an autocross on Friday and drag racing on Saturday. I was able to borrow a press car, which except for the color was exactly like this one from Ford’s Dallas area PR office. It was a press loaner and so was well exercised so to speak. I bumped the base timing from the 10 degrees stock to 15, filled the tank with some premium and gave it a whirl. I did well in the autocross, but the next day I had a best E.T. of 14.016 (I still have the time slip), a little frustrated that I couldn’t break into 13’s.
For that kind of money I’d go out and buy a 2018 for $37,000 and put the 13,000 back of my pocket and much nicer than that
What’s this worth of it had 100K miles on it? The only real money in this thing is the low miles. You can’t drive it. Spend a lot (a real lot) less money and buy something you can use instead of look at or trailer around.
If I had the money to throw around I’d drive the wheels off of it. I have not a single GAF about the mileage and would enjoy it. It’d be a fun car to roll into a few shows with or car cruises with. the only time I’d leave it parked would be when it snows if in Michigan.
That’s your opinion. Everyone has one.
50 G’s for ugly?
Crazy.
To each their own though. I love the style of fox bodies.
Nice Pony, but if you wanted to drive it for any length of time, the tires, belts, fluids, etc. would have to be changed. The car is 25 years old and has been setting for that period of time…..
This same seller just sold a 1,800 mile Bright Red ’93 Mustang 5.0 LX Coupe for $46,000. The auction ended a couple of days ago.
