This 1975 Chevy Nova in Junction City, Kansas, might be rough, but the seller was able to get it running. They don’t want to see it sit in this field any longer, so they are offering it here as a no-reserve Barn Finds Auction! It was driven to this spot around a decade ago and hasn’t moved since, so if you’d love to be the one to get it moving again, cast your high bid below.

At one time, Chevy Novas were just about everywhere. These days, you don’t see them all that often, especially these fourth-generation Novas. For many years, these were a popular option for budget drag racing builds. They are relatively light, affordable, and have plenty of space in their engine bay for performance upgrades. Making this one a dragster will require plenty of work, but it could be a good starting point for anyone looking to build a full-on race car.

The elements haven’t been kind to this Nova’s interior, but it’s intact. This is a base model car, so it has a bench seat and manual windows. It does have power steering and a CB radio! While having options like power windows and locks make for a nicer daily driver, the stripped-down nature of this Nova is very appealing for a drag car build.

The seller was able to get this 250 cui inline-6 running by pouring some fuel into the carburetor. There’s a good chance the next owner could get it back on the road fairly easily. Obviously, it will need the brakes and fuel system gone through, but these are simple cars to work on, and parts are readily available. As good as the 105-horsepower inline-6 is, a 350 V8 would make for a more capable car, especially at the drag strip. While it will take some work to swap a V8 into it, it’s not a complicated task and is well-documented.

So, would you make this Nova a driver again, or would you strip it down and build it into a racer? Given the rust issues, building a drag car out of it might be the most economical option, but if the underside is sound, you could leave the outside looking rough and make it a ratty driver. The seller has a clean title for it and is ready to see it go. So, if you’d love to have it, be sure to submit your bid. And don’t hesitate to leave any questions you might have in the comment section below.

The interior is a little tattered, the grill is broken, and there’s rust at the left rear quarter. In other words, it’s PERFECT! LOL! It’s not bashed up and the bumpers are straight, so that 350 swap makes sense to me.

Sitting in the field couldn’t have been kind to the underside of the car. This version of the Nova had a penchant for “crabbing” down the road, as they aged.

Underneath is probably Swiss Cheese from sitting in the field.

No pictures underneath because they probably couldn’t have jacked it up!

Are new pans available to weld in? If so, that should not be too hard using drill and fill. Wonder if the odometer hasn’t clicked over at least once.

I did some checking, and floor pans are available from several suppliers.

The seller had to go out of town, but they sent a friend over to take underside photos. Unfortunately, they were only able to get one photo that turned out, so we’ve added it to the gallery and will see about getting more before the auction ends.
