No Reserve 1993 Ford Mustang GT

This 1993 Ford Mustang GT was found in the proverbial storage unit lock-up, discarded after its longtime owner could no longer afford to pay the accumulated debt from almost 18 years of secured parking. The Mustang was forfeited with just 66,647 miles on the clock, and sporting a desirable color combination of red over black cloth. The car isn’t completely stock and sports a set of mismatched wheels, but is definitely worth a look here on eBay in a no-reserve auction.

The Mustang doesn’t have all of the typical go-fast mods that the Fox bodies usually get slathered in, but it curiously has been upgraded to a five-lug setup. That’s not the most common tweak, so it does make me wonder what the plans were for this GT. It, of course, has Flowmasters, which may as well be labeled an OEM part at this point considering how many Mustangs of this era are otherwise complete stock aside from the exhaust. The seller notes some paint fade on the rear bumper and a crack on the front.

The interior is a change of pace from the usual colors we see, and I’ve learned over the years that Fox body followers tend to get excited by black interiors. It’s a sharp look, and while there’s some wear to the driver’s seat and the ashtray is missing, the inside is overall quite tidy – especially for an example that’s been laid up for some time. No word on A/C function, but the seller does note the installation of a short shift kit by a previous owner.

That owner did sign over the title, so you should be free and clear of any liens or lingering legal issues from the storage facility. The seller notes he has only owned the car for a short time and has no room for it (though, he does indicate his spouse wasn’t thrilled to see a fourth car on the property.) The engine bay is surprisingly stock, and the short list of modifications could lead you to believe the previous owner had big plans for this Fox body GT. Would you see them through or return it stock?

The story of the cars history is so convoluted I wouldn’t consider any bid until the seller had the registration transferred into their name.

I thought all ford V8s came with 5 lugs

None of the V8 Fox bodies did except the ’93 Cobra. A sure sign of their economy car underpinnings.

Forgot that pesky R in there – the Cobra R’s were the only V8 Fox bodies with 5 lugs. The regular ’93 Cobra was still lug.

Only the SVO’s came with 5 lugs during Fox body production.

To be honest, the mis-matched wheels should send up a red flag that corners have been cut. Five lug conversions have been common and inexpensive for a couple of decades. Matching sets of wheels that fit these cars are so cheap and easy to find through any online classified that it suggests either better wheels were removed or this car was pieced together and cleaned up for a quick flip. Considering the paperwork not being in the sellers name I’d be scared of this one.

I don’t think owner, who owed all that back money on the storage room gladly sign the title, if he lost the car because he didn’t pay . the car becomes ownership of the storage room place who then would have to sell it, with their paperwork.

    Man that thing is red.
I don’t know what you’re asking about seeing through with any particular mods, short throw shifters and flowmasters were typical as you say. I’m guilty of it along with several other “cheap or free” tricks. Wonder if the intake silencer is still there, usually yanked out from inside the fender right away.
The car itself isn’t bad at all, I dont see the attraction to an all stock 5.0 Mustang like some folks do. That was part of the attraction, having a multitude of different parts, hop up tricks, and not overly expensive and it wasn’t a Chevy! Gotta go….

It looks ok. Hand me a legit title and I’ll pay 8 grand.

Very desirable ride to fix up, even with the mods and possible paperwork issues. 1993 was the last Fox body year. Extremely popular, especially with law enforcement back in the day. Nice condition. Love the colors. Very collectible, even being restored to stock. Someone will be blessed to get this car.

Mileage is 78K. Bidding over $10k. Will require some work. Given the mileage it will not be extremely valuable but would be a fun driver. Do your diligence on this one given all that has been shared on the back story.

1994 was the first year for 5 lug on the Mustang
