Like many vehicles known for their tireless capabilities, clean examples of Chevrolet’s third-generation C/K series pick up trucks are becoming quite hard to find. This 1978 C10 Silverado is available here on eBay with no reserve, and it looks like a solid specimen of the company’s beloved “square body” trucks.
This C10 is in Mansfield, Texas with a clear title, and the seller describes it as “something of a survivor,” with the truck being off the road since the late 1990s. Unfortunately, details surrounding the vehicle are scarce, since the previous owner passed away.
At some point, the truck received a repaint in the original white color, and a new windshield and gasket were also installed. As expected, there are some minor dents and imperfections to be found, but other than some rust on the battery tray, the rest of this C10 is rust free.
The seller claims the tires have about 5 miles on them, and the aftermarket wheels are certainly a nice, period-correct touch.
Under the hood, you’ll find a 350 cubic inch V8 engine, which features a new radiator, an Edelbrock carburetor, new fuel pump, and new fuel lines. Though the truck only has a 5-digit odometer, the seller believes that the displayed miles are true.
The inside of this truck seems to be its weak point – the seller disclosed only two photos of the cabin, and one is extremely blurry. Despite this, they are honest about its condition, claiming the “interior shows wear consistent with age.”
Overall, this C10 Silverado seems like an excellent candidate for someone looking to purchase one. Though it has a few tasteful upgrades, the truck seems mostly original, with the seller claiming it runs well and drives smoothly. Is this pickup worth picking up, or would you pass on this square?
Would look great chopped and slammed.
I agree!
Possible 50K original miles truck that has been in the garage 20 years but was repainted and new windshield? Sounds like it may have been in a wreck back in the day. Either way all these old chevy pickups that sell for high prices just make my 91 look even better dollar wise!
No slamming
A lot can happen over 40 years.
It may be a decent starting point for a project but the information and pics in this listing is weak. It is cool that it is a shortbox and appears “straight”.
The box is NOT from a 1978. It has the gas “doors” which arrived for model year 1979. The steering wheel is from a Custom Deluxe or Scottsdale. The few pics denote that it may be a true Silverado. The seat cover is NOT original. The dash has a cheesy overlay cover to hide the cracks, you can see cracks at the edges of the lame cover.
Need to see the glove box SPID decal to know more.
Best of luck to the seller and buyer. It is really just a potential low rust project to build into either a stock resto or something else.
Could be a potential project vehicle but I agree that it lacks information about it. Has it been in a garage for too long? But I must say, the fender flares still look good and smooth.
is it sold?
