Imagine calling your Dodge dealer up in the late 90s, trying to get in on the allocation for a new Viper RT/10. You likely imagined a scenario whereby you couldn’t get into your dream muscle car for several months, waiting for the truck to show up with it on the trailer. You also likely never thought there would come a day when you could buy one that’s nearly brand new with no reserve, but that’s exactly where we’re at with this low mileage 2001 RT/10 listed here on eBay.
Bidding currently sits at $41,000 for a Viper with 13,000 miles on the clock. That’s a deal at the moment, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this sell for under $50,000. Now, I still think the early Vipers are going to be collectible for some time to come, but there have been a number of good cars sold in recent months for relative pocket change when the sale price is stacked up against the standard performance. The looks remain pretty killer, too.
You’ll never avoid how cheap these things are in terms of construction, but at least refinement got better as time wore on. The seller’s Viper wears “Steel Gray Metallic” paint, which we see far less often than the reds and blacks, so there’s another selling point. With the miles as low as they are, it’s not surprising to see the cabin remains in largely as-new condition, but it’s not as if the materials inside were anything exotic; in other words, cheap materials still look cheap whether the car is near brand-new or not.
The Viper remains in bone-stock condition and will come with both its removable hard top and convertible roof. The engine bay shows no signs of go-fast modifications or other enhancements that tend to dilute the value on performance cars like this. The Viper RT/10 will always be synonymous with brute-force horsepower and handling, and with modern family sedans regularly selling for north of $50K, a factory hot rod like this looks like an absolute bargain.
Nothing else to comment on except the original picture of one of my favorite cars. Narrative, maybe more pictures?
No story..or pics on any of the next day-future barn finds…Whats up guys???
I thought it was just me. Nothing comes up. Only comments.
Refreshing the page a time or two brings up the article for me. It’s happening with other features cars tonight also.
I believe we have the issue fixed for now. Please let us know if it happens again. Thanks!
Great car, but probably not a barn find.
Still look forward each day to seeing these finds, but maybe branch out to a separate category for this and other $20,00-$90,000+ finds. Maybe a few different categories….
1. Barn finds/backyard/garage/chicken coop.
2. Tucked away and tucked in.
3. Invested in, coddled, but still cool to see.
4. Never even drove past a barn, let alone been in one.
I like vipers but when I got close to one I looked inside and seen the pedals I bust out laughing, they were so small I wood be pushing both of them at the same time.I thought these cars are for small people not for big ones
That makes no sense. I could see if they were big and you’re feet were crowded but small??? Huh??
You’re right.I’m 6′ 2″ and wear a size 13 shoe, about 6′ 3″ with shoes on.I drove one in 2004 and the pedals are fairly close together and the interior is somewhat cramped, fits around your body without alot of room to move around.pictures make it look bigger than it really is….
saw the pedals. I would be pushing both of them
Beautiful car. Right on the top of my best design list.
Bought one new in ’06. Hardtop black on black. $88k.Only ran it 3300 miles in 6 years. Fun car but like to use cars. Kinda wished I kept it now but insurance was expensive for a sitting car
Friend from Charlotte showed me his new toy, said it cost 90K, and this is what he had except white with blue stripes. It’s tight, but not much more than a vette.
That engine though, wow. You could sell kids tickets to the engine reveal show, lol.
