This truck was used by the Boulder City, Nevada airport from when it was new until 2003, and has been sitting ever since. It runs and drives, although since it’s on the original 1961 tires (!) I wouldn’t want to drive it very far! The truck is only showing 18,000 original miles, so if you wanted to turn it into a car hauler or a giant BBQ grille, it’s got plenty of life left in it. What would you do with this great old truck?
I see something odd with this truck. This 61 has 1960 grilles in the hood. The 61 grilles have slats that run side to side. I had a 60 and a 61 and the grilles were different from year to year.
Turn the tank into a giant hot tub and take it to the drive-in movies… Or at least that is my girlfriend’s suggestion…

I would tend to agree with dj. It looks more like a ’60 than a ’61. Either way it’s a neat truck to have. That torsion bar front end makes it ride super smooth, however, the drawback is that they rode too smoothly over too rough a terrain and suffered a lot of front end failures. Thus the return to the leaf springs and straight axle come ’63.
