1983 Mazda RX7 Racer

Hearing about all the fun staff writer Jamie P has been having in his LeMons racer, has been giving all of us at Barn Finds the racing itch. If you too have been feeling the need for speed and live near Denver, you might want to take a look at this 1983 Mazda RX-7. It is listed here on eBay outside of Denver, Colorado with a BIN of $4,500 and built to SCCA race specs!

According to the seller, this is a  professionally built race car has been updated to all current SCCA specifications and race prepped by Dave Ott (local Denver RX7 expert).

All the fluids have been changed and the roll cage has been updated.  The 22 gallon fuel cell foam has been replaced along with the front bearings, brake pads/rotors.

The owner says that this car can run SCCA ITA and has also run in STL as presently configured. He also says it is possible to run Spec 7 by changing out the adjustable shocks or run “Vintage” in DP81 or NASA. Supposedly, this car ran first or second in every race with no DNFS.

The car is said to have a race prepped carburetor with new fuel lines, a high capacity fuel pump and a new battery. No mileage or hours on the engine are given. The engine runs with 100 psi oil pressure.

There is a removable steering wheel, new belts fitted last year, a shifter kit with new bushings, a new rechargeable transponder, ten forged alloy wheels, 6 good Toyo tires and spare brake rotors are all included. The owner says the car is ready to go, titled, not street legal and has an SCCA logbook with an RMVR (Vintage) tech sticker included. Ready! Set! Go!

    i think it also might make a nice autocross/hillclimb/trackday car. looks like a lot of car for the money but a PI including the logbooks should be done. great find.
