Wow, that is one dirty cat! The story goes that the previous owner bought this once beautiful machine in 1974, but traveled for their job. They apparently worked so much that they never got around to drive it once it was parked in their collection. So, it has remained in storage until just recently. It’s still wearing the dust and grime that it has collected over the years. I’m guessing when it was purchased, it was originally going to be restored, but the project never materialized. Well, no matter what the story is, this E-Type deserves a good home and a chance at life! Find it here on eBay in Mckinney, Texas.
I’m a huge fan of the E-Type and would love to have one! If this one isn’t rusted out, I think it would be a worthwhile project. The engine sadly isn’t the original, but it is close numerically to the original. As you can see, the carbs are off and a few other bits appear to be missing. Thankfully, the seller has the carbs a few pieces for it! After giving it a good once over I would want to get it running, so I could enjoy that big inline 6!
The interior is also in need of some attention. It appears that the carpet is out, but some of the insulation is still there. Personally, I want to see what is going with the floors. They look solid, but you just can’t tell in these photos. Looking at the underside pictures, it appears to be extremely solid! All the major interior parts seem to be present and accounted for.
While I really wouldn’t mind having this Jag, I can’t help but wonder what other cars were in this collection. I see a Ferrari and another E-Type, I wonder what happened with them? If you are in the market for an E-Type, I think this one could be worth considering. It isn’t rusted out like many of Jags we have seen in the past. So if you were in the market for a Jag project, would this one be on your radar?

Maybe he threw it out there to drum up interest, Picker Click bait. I am seeing more and more vehicles being advertised on ebay but not a real sale. Then the seller yanks the ads when they sell off site. I used to notice if you have interesting parts or vehicles to sell, the more listings you have tends to draw more interest up to a point. People always click on “See sellers other items” on most seller formats (Turbo lister etc) you can even add in links to the text. (See sellers other items, add this seller your favorite sellers list).
Everyone bemoans a seller who cant take the time to optimize the vehicle. #1 rule is appearances sell. A clean detailed car commands good money.
But I THINK there is also a degree of reverse psychology being tapped into here. With so many TV shows every aspires to be a picker or backyard dealer. I think theres a definate draw to being the one who finds that “Barnfind” others missed. To be the first to bring it into daylight, to wash the decades of dust off. To find that proverbial diamond in the rough. To me, I think marketed right and saving on time and labor if you get the right price thats what some sellers are going for in a car like this.
It all comes down to the numbers. If you can flip a car like this and earn a lot of money with doing virtually no work on it, I guess that might pencil out well for some folks. My OCD would never let me do that but thats what I think is going on here. Looks like it sold quick so gotta be something going on.
I have seen a lot worse than this coupe rust-wise, but it is a series 2. The hatch fit sure is wonky though, but the underside seems solid. This seller sure likes to find cars that have been left to gather dust, after owners have hardly started to do the necessary repairs to them.
