It’s auction season and across the country there are estates and large collections of stuff coming to market. One of our readers who simply goes by Ed, tipped us off to an upcoming auction in Ohio that might be worth checking out, especially if you love ’50s and ’60s Chevys. The auction house didn’t provide any information about the man behind this collection, but we can only assume something unfortunate happened that would require the liquidation of his collection. Whoever he is, he has good taste in cars and memorabilia! He has two Chevy Bel Airs, two Corvettes, a Camaro, a Malibu, a Nova, a Mercury Bobcat, a Plymouth GTX, two Harleys, and several other classics. He even has a Cushman Meter Maid, if oddball stuff like that interests you! Most of these cars appear to have been restored or are well cared for survivors. It’s sad to see this man’s collection auctioned off, but hopefully it all goes to good homes! You can find more photos and information about the auction here at KikoAuctions. The event will be held on May, 30th in Madison, OH. If you happen to be in the area and know more about this collection and the man behind it, please share! Thanks to Ed for this tip!
The cars that will likely garner the most interest will likely be the Bel Airs. One is a ’56 and the other a ’57. I have to admit, I’m a sucker for a black ’57 Chevy! I have a feeling the Camaro will fetch good money too, as it was built for drag racing and has been extensively upgraded!
The other car that catches my attention isn’t one of the Corvettes or the GTX, but this Mercury Bobcat. It certainly isn’t the fast machine here, although I’m sure the 302 V8 does a good job of making it go. It is just so unusual compared to the other muscle cars in this collection. I have a feeling it is quite the sleeper! So which car(s) in this collection would you like to have?
How I wish I could hit the Powerball !!!
Hi JW. I’d need to win (2) Powerballs; one to buy all the toys and the other to build a place to house them…
geomechs, not me I just need a 100′ by 200′ pole building and 7 cars one for each day of the week. Park me a motorhome inside to sleep in and I’m all set.
I was just thinking that the Bobcat is the rarest car in the bunch. Certainly the 302 is not original but maybe when they modified it they also installed a fuel cell in place of the exploding gas tank… ^_^
Bobcat for me. The need for speed until I could afford a 351 built Windsor for it.
I am looking at the Nova and remembering my one owner lo mileage ’71 SS I purchased back in ’76. Had the 350 and backed with a nice 4 spd. One of the best GM cars I owned back in the day. Too much of a ticket getter at the time,… but I would be a player for this Nova even though it is not the ’71.
Bobcat all the way! I love oddball rides.
I’m in the Bobcat camp, also! It didn’t have the Pinto’s ‘combustion’ problem!
