Out of the Wild: 1962 Ford F-100

front right

This old truck found a new life as a movie star, or prop really, in the film Out of the Wild. You can get a couple of glimpses of the truck on the movie website where it’s one of the main character’s transportation. Now it’s for sale on eBay in Estes Park, Colorado. Bidding is still low with about 2 days to go. It runs well and has some new parts, but there’s some rust in the floor and a few electrical issues that need fixed. Thanks goes to Jim S for the tip!

With a little work, this old truck could be a good “beater” for someone. Does being an extra in a movie add any value though? The movie is not from a major studio with “A Listed” stars. Plus, this is a long bed pickup – much less popular than a short bed. It does look like the perfect truck for dump runs or to lend to your friends. It also has a well-used look, but is it anything more than just a beat up old truck?

I’ll never understand the appeal of a short box, I’d never buy one. . Now everybody buys 4 doored shortboxes, eventually finding used longboxes will be next to impossible.

Which will then drive up the value of long boxes for the next generation
