Owned 41 Years: 1959 Cadillac Eldorado

1959 Cadillac Eldorado

While in sixth grade, I used to marvel at a Cadillac convertible that was always parked across the street from the school. It was a welcome treat to see that bright pink car every morning. That sight made my day a little brighter, so I was sad to see it had disappeared one day. I have always wondered what happened to that car and as a result I have grown to appreciate these tail finned wonders. Obviously there are quite a few people out there who share my affinity special machines – as evidenced by the bidding currently taking place on this one. This 1959 Biarritz has been in the current owner’s possession for the last 41 years. They don’t divulge much, but they do mention that it has always been garaged and is rust free. Sounds like a survivor to me! Take a look here on eBay where the auction ends shortly.

Wow, a great car. I know these bring money but bidding is at $115k wow. Is that a good number for a condition 3 car? I was thinking 50-70k, but I must be wrong. $100k+ for a restored perfect one.

My dad had a bright blue one of these, he’s rolling over in his grave seeing what this one is going for.

I agree 115 K with a 1 feedback. Crazy! Anyone could stop in some ones yard and take a pictures and then list on Ebay. Of course, I would love to have the car.

DIAL 911…..I think I had the BIG ONE….they are beautiful, but my budget stopped 60-65 in this condition. I would have expected #1 or restored at this price but there’s a buyer for everything…

Someone could go cruising in style with this. But it will not be me, the price is way beyond me.

This would be a lot better looking without the fins. The rear fenders would just slope away…

The fins helped to stabilize the car at high speed. At least that is what the advertising said.

Wow, 132K is big bucks for a car that needs a new interior and paint job and that’s without knowing what it would need mechanically. These Caddy’s apparently are now a rich man’s toy.

And to think that I sold a triple black 59 Eldorado Convertible with factory bucket seats, A/C and fiberglass boot about 12 years ago for $47,500. I purchased it from the 2nd owner and it only had 52,000 original miles

If it’s any consolation to you, I knew a preacher that had restored a ’57 Chevy Bel Air convertible himself back during the 1980s, and sold it during that same decade for $8750 thereabouts. I last saw him in 1996, when he told me that during the interim period, they have skyrocketed in value. The value on them has skyrocketed much more since 1996.

    I’m with you there, Jesse.
When I was in the second grade, my teacher had a beautiful 1955 Cadillac convertible in pale yellow with a black top.
Then, when I was in the forth grade, she trades that in for a 1959 Cadillac convertible, mint green with a white top. I stared out the window at that car more than I did at the blackboard!
My aunt and uncle, who lived next door also had a 59 Coupe de Ville hardtop in a blue mist. I loved those bullet taillights.
