As the saying goes, two is usually bettter than one, especially if there are worthwhile automotive projects involved. The seller of two Camaros is ready to deal on a pair of clean projects shown here on craigslist in North Georgia, where he’s asking $9K firm for a pair of ’78s.
This example shown on late model wheels is the less desirable of the two, with a non-matching engine and some interior work needed. The motor is said to be a fairly recent swap, sporting a 350 and 350 Turbo transmission. This one was originally a four-speed car, so it could be worth bringing back to factory condition if authenticity is desired.
Overall, the body looks straight, but it doesn’t really matter much to me – I see this more as a potential errand runner or parts donor (though that seems dramatic). I guess it’s just because the other car in the pair, also a ’78 Z28, looks super original and worth preserving. That car retains its matching-numbers configuration and looks the part on period-correct turbine wheels.
The seller says he simply doesn’t have time to put these projects back on the road. He cites a reason many of us can relate to, which is that the doldrums of going to work every day and other responsibilities get in the way of our projects. For two Z28s that aren’t rusty, the asking price of $9K (plus a bunch of spare parts) seems like a fair deal to me. What do you think?
Not my favorite generation of the Camaro, but workable.
Two titled cars, in decent shape, somewhat collectible, and likely to improve in that respect… plus parts, all for 9G’s? Seems like a decent package to me!
The wheels on the darker car have always looked good to me, and if the extra set of wheels included is one version older than those, all the better! Sorry Jeff, the “turbine” wheels leave me cold.
This deal is a “YES” for anyone who likes this vintage of Camaro.
I had a 1978 Z28 once. It was a die-hard, fun car that went on for miles and miles with little attention. This seems like a good deal!
If you like these cars ,then two for 9K seems pretty good to me .I’d get them home and put the nice one off to the side.Get the other one cleaned up, don’t go crazy just do the basic stuff. It would be a nice winter project to keep you out of trouble ,and then in the spring sell it and dump the money into the nicer one.Of course that all depends on the amount of rust ,if there is any .But they do look nice from here.As with any car that you buy . You have to get eyes on it ,either yours or someone that you trust.
he’s a little high on price, i’d go 6500 tops
I was enthusiastic about the Z28 back in the day when Chevrolet was looking for a way to compete in the Trans-Am series and came up with their 302 performance package. I still like those cars, but I can’t work up a warm fuzzy for a 350 faux Z28.
on that oragne camero, what style or type of wheel would you call that? I really like that style and it works well on that age of vehicle.
