    Built 360 V8 Project: 1973 Plymouth Barracuda

The Plymouth Barracuda shed its Valiant roots in 1970, receiving a fresh E-body platform that was also shared with Dodge’s new Challenger. Sales would increase by 50%, but the resurgence was short-lived and demand quickly trickled away. The seller offers a 1973 Barracuda (not the ‘Cuda model) that has a “built” 360 cubic-inch V8, but a body and chassis with rust issues. Located with a restoration shop in Newark Valley, New York, this Mopar project is available here on craigslist for $11,500. Here’s another well-described tip from Mitchell G.! (more…)

  • Only 43K Original Miles! 1957 Nash Ambassador

Only 43K Original Miles! 1957 Nash Ambassador

While GM, Ford, and Chrysler Corp. were heavily involved in a 1957 postwar slugapalooza, recently formed American Motors (1954) was trying to find its way forward in a hypercompetitive automotive market. AMC, brought together by the merger of Nash and Hudson, jettisoned both those brand names for the 1958 model year, making today’s find, a 1957 Nash Ambassador Custom, the end of the line for that iconic brand. Looking oh-so fifties in its pink finish, this gently used four-door sedan is located in Macon, Illinois, and is available here on Facebook Marketplace for $7,500. Thanks are due to T.J. for this discovery!

  • Never This Nice: 1996 Pontiac Sunfire Convertible

Never This Nice: 1996 Pontiac Sunfire Convertible

I have held the viewpoint for a while that the notion of a cheap and cheerful convertible – even if it’s based on a miserable economy car – represents a totally different value proposition than its hardtop sibling. The Pontiac Sunfire was an unremarkable in every way, but when you combine a car that is dirt-cheap to own and maintain with fun-in-the-sun flexibility, it becomes compelling to own as a summertime commuter. This Sunfire Convertible listed here on craigslist is in surprisingly nice condition for having 91,000 miles and is offered for sale at just $3,200. Thanks to Barn Finds reader Mitchell G. for the tip.

Patina Time Capsule: 1959 Chevrolet Apache

Up for grabs here on eBay is a genuine slice of American truck history, a 1959 Chevrolet Apache. With 83,861 miles on the clock and a weathered patina finish that tells its own story, this Apache is being sold by a private seller as a project with serious potential. While it doesn’t come with a title, the seller is offering a bill of sale, making this a good candidate for someone comfortable navigating classic truck registrations.

Decent Driver: 1976 Chevrolet Vega Estate Wagon

The leading edge of the woodgrain on the Vega Estate Wagons has always made me scratch my head. I’m not sure why more thought wasn’t given to how to end that important part of this feature. Maybe there is no good way to do that, given the front clip. This 1976 Chevrolet Vega Estate Wagon is posted here on craigslist in Rockford, Illinois, and they’re asking $8,500. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Barney for the tip!

  • No Reserve Well Optioned 1973 Chevrolet Corvette

No Reserve Well Optioned 1973 Chevrolet Corvette

This 1973 Chevrolet Corvette ticks many of the right boxes for those seeking a project candidate. It recently emerged from long-term storage and is a car that represents a promising restoration project. The first owner equipped it with a range of desirable options, including the L82 version of Chevrolet’s small-block V8. If you are becoming tempted, the seller’s decision to list the vehicle with No Reserve might be all the motivation you need to pursue this Corvette further. You will find it here on eBay in New London, Wisconsin. The bidding sits at $5,101 at the time of writing, which should see this classic head to a new home in a few days. (more…)

  • Rust-Free 1967 Lincoln Continental Coupe

    Rust-Free 1967 Lincoln Continental Coupe

Memories, like the something something of your mind… Some of you may remember that I had a similar car, but a year older and dark green. It’s one car that I regret selling, but they are not small, they require a longer, easier-to-get-into garage space than we had, so I was paying storage fees. The seller has this 1967 Lincoln Continental Coupe posted here on craigslist in Falls City, and they’re asking $11,000. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Curvette for the tip!

  • Cheap $900 Convertible: 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Cheap $900 Convertible: 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Timing belt breaks are never a welcome occurrence, and the severity results can vary from just a simple replacement to significant internal engine damage.  Unfortunately, the cambelt snapping on this 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme has resulted in the car sitting idle for over 10 years, so there’s a possibility the decade-ago failure may have wreaked some havoc inside the V6.  Potentially better news is this one’s a convertible, and it’s priced at only $900, so perhaps the low cost will be enough to entice somebody to get to work here.  This Olds is located in the beautiful Pocono Lake Preserve area of eastern Pennsylvania, and can be found here on Craigslist.  We’d like to thank reader Mitchell G. once again for providing another tip here! • Crusty 1968 Buick Skylark Needs Some Love

Crusty 1968 Buick Skylark Needs Some Love

The images of this 1968 Buick Skylark kind of make you wonder: Is it being trailered to somewhere, or has it just come from somewhere? If the latter, then it appears that someone “drug this bad boy out of the mud,” because the underside is more than a little bit rusty. Still, if you’re inclined to take on a job, it might be a car you should look at, sitting at a current bid in the hundreds of dollars and with nearly a week to go in its auction here on ebay. You’ll have to take your own trailer to Port Huron, MI to retrieve it.

  • Price Reduced! 1951 Triumph Mayflower

    Price Reduced! 1951 Triumph Mayflower

Occasionally, a manufacturer breaks new ground but still fails to tempt buyers. The Mayflower, introduced in 1949 as a luxury option in the small-car market, was the first unibody car from Standard Triumph. This “first” did not impress, however, and sales consistently fell short of expectations. The model was terminated quickly, leaving Triumph with its Standard 8, which didn’t even attempt to climb the prestige scale. Still, the Mayflower has a certain upright British demeanor that will appeal to some collectors. This unrestored 1951 Triumph Mayflower is advertised here on craigslist for $6,500, which the seller hints is a reduction from some previous price. With a top speed of 60 mph and a zero-to-sixty time north of 25 seconds, the new buyer needs a leisurely outlook on life before driving it home from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Thanks to Mitchell G for the tip!

One giveaway to know that this 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera has the FE3 suspension package would be the N78 Aluminum Styled Wheels, which were available on the International Series and Cieras with the FE3 package. Another one, of course, is the FE3 badge on the trunk lid. This incredible survivor is posted here on craigslist in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and they’re asking $5,900 (assuming Canadian dollars? If so, that’s just $4,278 U.S. dollars). • Unmolested Wagon: 1960 Studebaker Lark VIII

Unmolested Wagon: 1960 Studebaker Lark VIII

In 1958 and 1959, American Motors and Studebaker introduced new compact cars that led to a revolution with the Detroit “Big 3” in the 1960s. The new Lark is just what the doctor ordered for struggling Studebaker, but in 1960, all kinds of competition arrived. This 1960 Lark is a Deluxe VIII model, meaning it came with a V8 instead of an inline-6. This wagon is original and runs great, but is worn cosmetically. Located in Durango, Colorado, this survivor is available here on craigslist for $12,500. And it’s another tip from Mike F.! (more…)

  • 1-Of-118 K-Code Drop-Tops: 1965 Ford Mustang

    1-Of-118 K-Code Drop-Tops: 1965 Ford Mustang

For the official 1965 model year, Ford built nearly 560,000 copies of the hot new Mustang. But, per the seller, only 118 of them were convertibles with the potent K-code V8. That should include this Poppy Red edition with a 4-speed that may only have 33,000 miles. Located in Miami, Florida, as part of an apparent collection, this ‘Stang is commanding a premium here on craigslist at $125,000. Thanks, Mitchell G., for sending this tip our way! (more…)

  • Rare Convertible: 1985 Mercury Capri ASC McLaren

Rare Convertible: 1985 Mercury Capri ASC McLaren

Although the second-generation Mercury Capri wasn’t as popular as its Ford Mustang counterpart, it was a fun offering and featured some styling differences, plus provided a pony car choice to the selection of autos available for Mercury buyers to choose from.  One major difference is that a convertible re-entered the Mustang lineup again in 1983, while the Capri remained only a 3-door hatchback.  That changed when American Sunroof Company and McLaren Automotive teamed up to create the Mercury Capri ASC McLaren, which also included a droptop option, such as this 1985 model here on eBay in New Milford, Connecticut.  This one’s said to only have 20,000 miles on the ticker, with the buy-it-now price of $8,950 sounding like a reasonable amount to pay here.  However, there’s also the opportunity to submit an offer.
