  • Rare Drop-Top: 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa

Rare Drop-Top: 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa

The Chevy Corvair got a new lease on life in 1965 with a new layout, hoping to distance itself from safety concerns coming from crusader Ralph Nader. Gone were the handling problems that caught Ralph’s attention, and sales improved, but only for one year. The Corsa replaced the Spyder as the hot model, and the seller’s garage find is a rare convertible in terms of the number of them likely to be left. Located in La Habra, California, this estate sale project is available here on craigslist for $4,000. Thumbs up to Rocco B. for the cool tip! (more…)

  • Rebuilt Original 352: 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 LTD

Rebuilt Original 352: 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 LTD

It is always sad when a classic crosses our desks at Barn Finds where the owner must sell due to deteriorating health. Such is the case with this 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 LTD. It presents exceptionally well for a classic of this vintage, and the rebuilt V8 under the hood provides the power to match those looks. It has no urgent needs and is ready to hit the road with a new owner behind the wheel. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Curvette for spotting the Ford listed here on eBay in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The owner set their BIN at $21,000 with the option to make an offer. (more…)

  • Reliable Cruiser: 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertible

Reliable Cruiser: 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertible

Reliability is often a key consideration when choosing a classic to park in your garage. Nothing spoils the ownership experience more than being stuck on the side of the road because the car of your dreams has suffered some mechanical failure. The seller suggests that this shouldn’t be an issue with this 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertible. They describe it as a “reliable cruiser,” which ticks the first box for potential buyers. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Curvette for spotting the Dodge listed here on eBay in Valparaiso, Indiana. Seventeen bids have pushed the price to $7,100, which is below the reserve. There is also a BIN option of $16,000 for those wishing to bypass the auction process. (more…)

  • Green On Green: 1971 Dodge Dart 225 Slant-Six

Green On Green: 1971 Dodge Dart 225 Slant-Six

The seller lists the mileage of this 1971 Dodge Dart as being 5,600, but unless the stars have somehow aligned, there’s total political harmony, and everything is perfect in the world, I’m guessing it’s 105,600 miles. This can be found listed here on Facebook Marketplace in Chickamauga, GA, and the seller is asking $10,000. Here is the original listing, and thanks to T.J. for the tip!

    Pristine Pullman: 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D Limousine

While many domestic limos from the period may have offered more bling, padding, gadgets, and over-the-top styling, the Mercedes-Benz 300D excelled in providing its occupants with a level of comfort that lasted for hours at a time, plus an initial build quality that was hard to beat.  This 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D Pullman Limousine here on Facebook Marketplace has already traveled 287,309 miles, but the seller describes it as still performing flawlessly, so there’s probably some good life left here for the next owner to enjoy.  Located in Los Angeles, California, this one’s priced at $14,500, and it might be worth considering if you’ve been on the hunt for a large German sedan to be chauffeured around in. Update – The seller has reduced their reserve. And they have added a walkaround video.

We’ve talked about “box-checkers” here on Barn Finds before, and I’m not talking about the people bagging your groceries at the checkout line. I mean, cars and trucks, or in this case, a little of both, that check so many boxes that they fall toward the top of the must-have list. This 1966 Chevrolet El Camino is a major box-checker, and the seller has it listed here as a Barn Finds Auction!

    • Location: Eagle, Idaho
    • Mileage: 98,573 Shown
    • Chassis #: 11880014
    • Title Status: Rebuilt

    • Transmission: 5-Speed Manual

UPDATE – The seller has reduced their reserve and added photos of the included transmission and exhaust components, so we have restarted the auction. Be sure to take another look!

In 1967, Porsche introduced a new body style to the 911 line-up. At the time, there were fears that US regulations would make offering a convertible impossible. Not wanting to lose potential market share, Porsche introduced the Targa. Its stainless-steel middle pillar served as a rollbar, which they believed would help them avoid any issues if convertibles were banned. Those regulations never came to be, but the Targa proved popular, so the company continued offering it well into the ’90s. This example is part of a collection we are helping with, and it’s been in storage for the past decade. Health issues make finishing it impossible, so the seller is offering it here as a Barn Finds Auction!

  • 59k Original Miles: 1969 Buick Wildcat

59k Original Miles: 1969 Buick Wildcat

Here at Barn Finds, we love it when readers spot a classic for sale, then take the time to make us aware of it by submitting a tip through our website.  Unless it’s a vehicle a member of our team located, we also always want to give credit in our posts to the person who found whatever car we’re writing about, and this 1969 Buick Wildcat here on Facebook Marketplace is no exception.  Unfortunately, the tipster didn’t include their name, so if that’s you, please know how much we appreciate your sharing this cool sedan with us!  I sometimes hesitate to pose the question if an auto may be the nicest one left of its kind, but this Buick’s a beauty, and to say it’s at least a top-tier example certainly sounds reasonable.  Head on over to McKinney, Texas, to check this one out in person, and bring along $11,000 if you’re prepared to pay the full asking price. • Man Cave Art: Full-Size 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

Man Cave Art: Full-Size 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

Chevrolet built more than 1.5 million automobiles in 1957, which included 168,000 Bel Air Sport Coupes. The seller’s “car” used to be one of them, but only the left side remains. From head to toe, the left profile of the Bel Air has been welded together to make an elaborate piece of wall art. And it’s full-size in terms of length. For the man cave that already has everything else! Located in Franklin, Tennessee, this interesting piece of memorabilia is available here on craigslist for $6,500. Eagle-eye barn finder Chuck Foster brought us this tip! (more…)

  • 7-Litre Sports Package: Rare 1967 Ford XL Convertible

7-Litre Sports Package: Rare 1967 Ford XL Convertible

Several years before the Metric Conversion Act of 1975, Ford decided to give its big bucket-seat XL models a little European flavor by introducing the “7-Litre” in 1966. Coming standard with such niceties as a 428-cubic-inch V8, power front disc brakes, and a sporty steering wheel, it sold fairly well at just over 11,000 units. For 1967, Ford decided not to carry over the 7-Litre as a separate model, but instead offered it as an option package called the “7-Litre Sports Package.” According to Kevin Marti, it is one of 255 XL Convertibles built in 1967, and Barn Finder T.J. found one on Marketplace in Denton, Maryland, with an asking price of $28,000.

  • 21,000 Original Miles: 1997 Porsche Boxster

21,000 Original Miles: 1997 Porsche Boxster

There’s a growing appreciation for the first-generation Porsche Boxster as one of the best deals out there for an entry-level sports car. I’m not sure if the Boxster was dragged down by the initial distaste for the water-cooled 996 or if it was the manufactured hysteria over the IMS bearing failure rate, but the mid-engined sports car has been shockingly cheap for years despite being a phenomenal driver’s car. The Boxster shown here is an earlier example and it has a scant 21,000 miles on the clock. The seller notes it belonged to his father who no longer drives it and it’s listed here on craigslist for $23,000.

  • Surprisingly Stock: 1988 Ford Mustang 5.0 LX

Surprisingly Stock: 1988 Ford Mustang 5.0 LX

We often talk about appreciating cars that have some subtle modifications that make it a better driver. Personally, I have no great objection to some mild suspension modifications, especially a basic lowering kit that makes the car tighter in corners and does wonders for the aesthetics. However, there’s no denying finding a completely bone-stock driver that’s been maintained without being modified is a wonderful discovery. This 1988 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 with the preferred 5-speed appears to be such a car, and it’s listed here on craigslist for $10,300 in California.

  • V6 Survivor: 1988 Toyota Camry LE

V6 Survivor: 1988 Toyota Camry LE

The “grandma car” is one of the more charming terms used in the automotive world, typically describing a vehicle that falls into one of two (or both) categories: incredibly well maintained and completely ordinary car, or a vehicle that typically only appeals to a woman over a certain age. Occasionally, you find a vehicle that is the kind of car your grandmother would have purchased, and it’s in surprisingly mint condition. This 1988 Toyota Camry is a terrific example of this vehicle category, and it has the added bonus of being a somewhat hard-to-find V6 model. Find it here on craigslist for $6,000.

  • Recycled Style: 1946 Oldsmobile Series 76

Recycled Style: 1946 Oldsmobile Series 76

Immediately after WWII, demand for consumer goods was intense. Auto companies were shifting from wartime production back to what they did best. They barely had time or talent to produce new designs – such was the urgency of demand – so most cars wore carry-over sheet metal dolled up with new trim. This 1946 Oldsmobile 76 shows off its iconic four-bar grille – an update over the ’42’s clumsy double-decker affair. In fact, Art Deco’s influence was emerging more prominently in industrial design by the mid-40s, giving us tear-drop fenders and repeating linear elements like this grille. But it would be 1948 before Olds dished up much in the way of updated styling. T.J. found this handsome Olds available for $9200 here on craigslist and located in Sheboygan, Wisconsin – thanks, T.J.!

  • Just Needs Cosmetic Love: 1978 Chevrolet LUV

Just Needs Cosmetic Love: 1978 Chevrolet LUV

The Chevy LUV (an acronym for “Light Utility Vehicle”) was a small pickup made in Japan by Isuzu. Chevrolet imported it for several years until their own S-10 compact truck was on the market in the early 1980s. The seller has a 1978 edition of the LUV, which has a lot of new key components, like the engine and transmission. From its home in Golden Valley, Arizona, this truck may only need new paint before being put into your service. It’s available here on craigslist for $3,500, far less than the seller has in it. Bravo to “Barney” for sending this tip our way. (more…)
