Panel Time, Again! 1949 Chevy

1949 Chevrolet Panel Truck

Okay Barn Finds readers, here’s another panel truck and maybe someone should purchase this one today! Listed here on craigslist in Calvert County, Maryland is this 1949 Chevrolet Panel Truck for $2,500 OBO.

According to the seller this is a “farm-found all original truck with the 6 cylinder engine mated to a 3-speed transmission with the original 6-volt electrical system still in the truck.  The engine still turns over as per Tim the owner.

Here we have another panel truck that does not have the original seats just as the other one from a few days ago.

There are some parts in the back and maybe the original floorboards?

There isn’t an image of the rear-doors that may or may not be on the truck.  There are “spare rear doors with glass included” as per the seller.

Tim asks that only interested parties contact him. The panel truck that we posted back in December 2015, had the owner asking for $7,900. The owner, of this ’49 has too many projects already and needs it gone. Tim is only asking $2,500 OBO. Why do you think someone hasn’t already picked this one up?

Motor-on,

Robert

    Lol…. Those seats aren’t original, I wouldn’t think.
And the color? Some cars need names, so this one is “Kermit”.

Appears to have good bones, though. Hope someone does it justice, and kudos to the seller for passing it along without requiring a buyer to spend too much of the restore money.

If Kermit doesn’t work, “Shrek” might.

Well, I think you’re right, that fits much better!

Most of the panel trucks only had a single seat for the driver. The second seat was optional at extra cost.

Here’s another highly desirable panel. A nice driver-type restoration or maybe drop in a 235 with the benefits of full-pressure lubrication. If it was mine, the Stovebolt would do just fine…

Very nice old panal delivery truck. This would be a good truck for a first time car guy, they are super simple in every way. There really is no interior to speak of and the body looks straight. I would switch out the engine for a newer version 250 cid. inline 6 cyl. ( 1955 to 1960) not a fan of the old slinger engines known for bearing failure especially in colder climates. This would also look good with some custom paint work, for me would be two tone red over black. I would put a bench seat in it for the times when passengers need to be transported.
