Parts Donor: 1964 Triumph TR4

1964 Triumph TR4

This TR4 is quite rough, so much so the seller even states it’s a parts car. Given the lack of an engine, transmission and most of its interior, I wonder if it is even that good of a parts donor. The body panels don’t look too rough, so perhaps there is $1,500 worth of parts here? You can take a look at this donor here on eBay in Easton, Pennsylvania.

I’m curious to know what exactly happened to this TR. It looks like it might have caught fire, but I could be wrong.

With any luck, this one at least ran when parked! What do you think? Is this a parts car or a potential project?

Send it to the crusher, put it out of its misery.

I hate to see anything this old ad a desireable car to restore sent to scrap. I would think there are running models out there with bad panels someone just wants to put together and drive for this price that would m ake this car worth worth half the asking price. parts just aren’t cheap on anything anymore and especially when you find yourself on the budget end of starting a hobby

Yep, I agree, Ron. It’s not like this thing is rotted back into Mother Earth…,yet. I’m thinking there was a fire. May have been a decent car before that. I see a great parts car for body panels and suspension parts at least. Restoring this would be crazy.

Well, finally we have an accurate mileage reading.( 999,999) I believe it did have a fire, probably started with the dash, possibly Lucas related. Like RON sez, great parts car. Many of these have already been crushed, and if I had a TR-4, this would be in my back yard.

This appears amazingly uncorroded for the way it is stored and where it is located. Must have been a great car before the fire. If it is not rusted out, would be an OK candidate for acid dipping and restoring? Why not? A Brit would love this project as they usually start with far worse.

Polish the paint, clear coat. Put in front yard doors open flowers spilling out.
Maybe a couple of garden gnomes.

I lost my ’61’ bugeye to sitting like this TR4.
There are potentially good axles, a questionable tranny, a rear end, front A- arms and springs, and other things, but I am afraid that $1500 is way out of line. I bought a ’64’ for $1100 and started the motor a few days after getting it home. I have completed the floors, inners, and outers sills recently on it.
    What have you got here?
If you desperately need a part on this car then maybe…but with no title, why buy it ?
    C’list or E-bay has parts.
But good luck to the seller anyway…

Car is pretty far gone, It COULD be restored, I agree in I dont see a lot of rust. Parts are out there. I know people who have that stuf stashed.
But I also agree would be a better choice as a either a race car tribute for the street Or a actual vintage class race car. A lot of racers would LOVE to get their hands on this. Scrap it? I dont think so. Somebody needs and attitude adjustment

I’m sure there is a complete rust bucket out there that could be a donor for this car as it looks restoreable to me and would be a fun little project car. Nice find.

Looks like a good candidate for a small block Ford engine transplant! The purists couldn’t complain too much if you showed them the before pictures.
