Thanks to Barn Finds reader bnvle64 for letting us know about these three Porsche 912’s, which are all being sold by the same seller in Ada, Oklahoma. All three cars are included for one price, and the seller will not separate them. You can find them advertised here on craigslist for $31,000, which is at least a little less expensive than some others we have seen lately.
The 1965 or 1966 black car above is a complete car and is said to have a good body, although I can’t say I’m fond of the “superficial” rust on the hood. There is minimal floor rust present and it has a clear title. The seller has had it running, although the engine in the car is not the original. The engine does feature performance oriented Dell’Orto carburetors. It was originally red with a black interior. The seller also states the 5-speed transmission is not the original one either.
The orange car is also registered as a 1966 and has a 5-speed transmission as well. The engine is currently removed and has been taken partially apart. The underside is described as rusty, and unlike the black car above it comes with steel wheels and Weber carburetors. Unusually, it comes with two front bumpers, one original and the fiberglass one currently installed.
The white car is really a parts car, as it has a rough shell with rusty floors, no drive train, no gauges and no title. It does have so-so doors that do have glass and lifters and good window frame chrome. I’m wondering if the hood is better than the one on the black car? Not really sure if this one is worth restoring or not–what do you think?
In addition to the three cars, the seller is also including another 1966 912 engine, a set of original Solex carburetors, and four more wheels (making a total of 17 between all the cars and these spares). Anyone want to get into the 912 business? What do you think about the pricing of these three?
A couple years ago this would be laughable and funny. Now it’s laughable but sad.
That said… it might not be a horrible deal depending on the TRUE quality of the sheet metal.
If nothing else it’s a good way to hotrod a Porsche as doing so to a 911 just isn’t realistic any more.
Black car appears to have the H4 euro lights – nice upgrade.
Yikes. Ada. Be carefull what you dream….
