While only one of these Studebakers is currently for sale, it appears to be part of a Studebaker graveyard. For their time, these were quite the touring cars! The styling was unlike anything else on the road and still is unique by today’s standards. This Presidential coupe is in need of a complete restoration and for $2,500, I would want the seller to throw in another coupe so I have enough parts to build a complete car. If you’d like to have a look at this Studebaker you can find it here on eBay in Bartow, Florida.
What part of the car is not rotted out? Oh! Besides the front floor board clearly shown in one of the pictures.
Timeless Raymond Loewy design. And this model Stude was at least a foot lower than almost everything American made of this vintage
The 53 and 54 were the best looking, by 55 this monstrous nose ruined it’s sleek lines. I love old Studbusters.
This one, plus a hot, dry freebie hull found upside down in a dry wash someplace like Wickenberg, Arizona, might make for enough affordable parts for a complete “Rubik’s Studebaker” kit. As someone else has already commented, the zenith of this particular Loewy design was realized in the ’53 models.
I like all of the Loewy coupes, even the GT Hawks from 1962. The tailfins that were added for 57-61 cars were not an improvement.
The President of our stude club has a56 Power Hawk with wings . Just sayng . Pre 57
