Project Potential? 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle

Looking back at the history of the automotive hobby, one of the most notable project cars is the muscular 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, which is exactly what is listed for sale at a buy it now price of $5,500, or you can make an offer. The car has a clean title and is located in Mays Landing, New Jersey. This is a true project car as the photos and details will show in this article. You can view more about it on eBay.

For starters, there is no starter. No engine, transmission, nothing relating to getting this car to move using anything internally combusted or gear selection. The most it has going for it in terms of movement is having all four tires. There is a VIN listed, but with no engine, numbers matching isn’t really important. This could turn into a wild and wonderful resto-mod, pro street, or pro touring car. The possibilities are endless.

Inside, there are seats, but it doesn’t look like you will be sitting in them much. The rest of the interior does not look too terrible. The dashboard is complete and it looks like most of the accessories, knobs, buttons, and switches are there. It has no headliner and the floors look like they are in rough shape. Carpet squares are hiding the front floorboards and there is a photo of the rear floor with the seat out of the way.

There is a lot of rust sprinkled throughout the car and holes can be found in certain places. The seller has a few photos of underneath the car and the rust is present, but not overwhelming. Surprisingly, the driveling, axle, and suspension components seem to be alright. While this car might need a lot of work, its price does not seem too outlandish, especially considering the auction prices of finished Chevelles always seem to do well.

I can’t understand why people think because they have a rusty shell of a car it’s worth $5000 dollars??? The patina thing drives me crazy! I guess when the seats are shot we can say there worn in instead of saying there shot! At the end of the day the car needs every part addressed on the car! Please let’s get someone to understand that junk is cheap not $5000

This would make a very nice sleeper. Restore it to as built appearance, then drop in a s/b crate engine of about 500 hp. with a 6sp automatic. It’s going to take a lot of work so I can’t see $5k here, maybe $2k.
