Not every third-generation Camaro is a survivor—or even a runner—but for the right person, this 1986 Z28 listed here on craigslist could be the start of a build, a source of needed parts, or even a restoration challenge. Bought from an online auction under the impression it was a 5-speed manual, the seller quickly discovered it’s actually an automatic car with a 305 V8 (missing its carburetor). Without a title and no personal need for an automatic, they’ve decided to pass it along, selling it as a parts car or roller. Thanks for the tip Mitchell G.!

The third-gen Camaro’s low, angular styling and T-top roof give it a timeless ’80s performance look, even if this example has been parked since arrival. The seller says they rolled it off the trailer into its current spot and haven’t touched it since.

Factory Z28 trim should include unique front and rear fascias, ground effects, and badging, though the car’s overall condition isn’t detailed in the listing. For someone with a tired Z28 in need of body panels, glass, or interior bits, this could be an inexpensive donor.

Inside, the interior is described as mostly complete but in need of cleaning. With T-tops in place, it’s possible the weather has had some influence on condition, so a closer inspection would be wise. The seller notes that “all parts are there,” which may help offset some of the unknowns.

Without a title, returning this Z28 to the road could be a challenge depending on local registration laws, but for racers, restorers, or parts hunters, that might not matter. The automatic transmission and non-running 305 mean it will need significant mechanical work if a full revival is the goal.

While it may never again prowl the streets as a complete Z28, this Camaro could still be valuable to the right enthusiast. Whether it donates key pieces to another build or serves as a base for a race car project, its fate will depend on the vision of the next owner. Would you strip it for parts or attempt to bring it back to life?

This is a pats car for sure!
Ahhh, the eternal struggle between nature and man, the relentless nature pulling it in to take it back and man hoping to get it back on the road, relive his glory days, meanwhile, his wife stands there looking out the window at him with contempt.
And they say you can’t smell a picture…..
I see a car in the midst of weeds, and I immediately wonder if there’s anything left that I might be able to use, and this is that sort of car for me. Maybe wheels, maybe trim bits and bobs, maybe hinges or straight panels or dash pieces….something.
But no title? Derby car, or parts, but never on the road again.
