Quiet Cruiser: 1982 Mazda Muffler Mobile

Back in July of 2015, Jeff wrote up a neat muffler mobile that was a roadster. Unlike that one, this was based on a 1982 Mazda pickup truck, so it’s actually usable every day as a promotional/shop run around vehicle. Calling all you independent muffler shops! It’s located in Perham, South Dakota and is available here on craigslist for $4,800. Thanks to Olaf E. for this great find!

If the bed is still available back there, it would be more useful to haul tubing for a shop. I’m guessing it is, because the truck is actually listed as a “parade truck”. I’m guessing perhaps the local homecoming queen sat in the back with her court for the parade? This shot has me wondering if you could go with a yellow submarine theme as well, if you wanted to change things up. Yes, I have to admit, the 24 Hours of LeMons has gone through my mind as I’ve been looking these pictures over. The seller tells us there’s only 3,000 miles on a rebuilt engine, so maybe the reliability would be there for racing!

“Only what you need at a price guaranteed.” Sounds like a successful slogan! It must be nice to own a muffler shop when you need custom-bent tube bumpers! I’m guessing it’s a good advertising tool for those folks that want vertical stacks, too.

Can you see this outside your muffler shop? Or do you want to race a muffler? Or maybe that fake submarine idea appeals to you? Tell me this–if you were given this vehicle tomorrow, what would you do with it?

I saw this on another site. You cropped to much of the picture of the back of the truck. Everyone should take a close look at the shadow of the photographer and have a good laugh. LOL.

Stick a potato/ no pumpkin in the tail pipe, open windows an inch, turn on fog machine inside cab.
Don’t use the fog machine used by cheech and chong.

O.K., I give up. What did they do with the door, and how do you get in?

There was a car like this in my area in DE. I believe it was a 60’s Pontiac Catalina four door. Sat in front of a Midas muffler shop. The owner would drive it home every day. This was back in the early 80’s. Very funny to see it drive down the road.
