Ranch Find: 1927 Ford Model T Tudor

1927 Ford Model T Tudor

This 1927 Model T was found on a ranch in Wyoming where it had been stored in a sheep shed since 1946! The previous owner built a temporary wall to seal it in and forgot about it. As they got on in years though they decided that they had better have a plan for their collection of old cars. So at 85 years old, they left their estate to the rancher next door and requested that the current owner of this car be contacted and given first dibs on any of the cars. Well, this is the first of a few that will be coming to market soon. After digging it out of the shed, it was dragged home. After cleaning up the engine and adding new tires, the car is now running and driving. It may be shabby, but it appears to be very original. The original sales invoice was even in the car! The seller’s name is Tracy and you can email him here if you’re interested in rustling this old ranch hand back into shape! He is asking $6,800.

Little on the high side. Just bought a clean 28 for 10K cash and this is far from it.

Model Ts can be a lot of fun. Finding one behind a sealed off wall is even better. I’m waiting for the day when a local car gets to see the light of day for the first time in nearly 63 years. In 1952 a local farmer’s father passed away suddenly, leaving a next to new ’49 Mercury (I’ve heard of other makes but the majority claim it’s a Merc) and the son quickly drove it into a garage on the farm then sealed it off with concrete–to ensure that nothing happened to it. This guy now lives in a nursing home but his family won’t do anything about getting the car out until the father passes away.

Sealed in concrete that Merc will be a rusted through mess. As an owner of several 49 – 51 Mercs over the years I would love to see it posted when it comes out. Hope it fared better than I fear it did.

I have visions of that coming out like Miss Belvedere. Regardless, I plan to be there when it is finally allowed to see the light of day.

This T is nowhere near worth $6,800. Not even close.

I sold a 27 T last fall like this one in pretty close to the same condition on Ebay; got $3,100. That was a fair price.

Lots of Model T’s hitting the market. Story is often the same. Dad/Grandpa died, it was his pride and joy, he wasn’t able to drive it for the last _____ years. No one in the family is interested in keeping it or learning how to drive it, blah blah blah……………..

This does seem a little overpriced. It of course is good they managed to get it running. As a non runner it would be about a 4-5000 $ car. Running, 4500-5500 $, maybe more if there is little rust in the body.

I recently bought one, and paid $5700. Mine is a runner with a Warford accessory transmission which provides an over/under and direct drive. They are being reproduced and will set you back around $2000, so I thought I did OK considering that accessory.

Right on, I paid $6,000 for a Model T in good shape that ran well, this car is not worth that much.
