Modern trucks are great, but if you want a heavy-duty truck that you know is going to last, you might want to take a look at this C30! This 41-year-old truck is in beautiful condition and is believed to have just 42k miles. Given how clean it is, it looks like it very well could be correct!
What Makes It Special? This 1977 Chevrolet C30 is a dually with a 454 4bbl v8, automatic transmission and is matching numbers. It’s a 2 owner rig that has spent its life in Washington State. It was optioned with the Cheyenne & Camper Special packages.
The odometer reads 42,227 and it’s believed to be original. This truck runs, drives, and feels like a 42k original mile truck and not like a 142k mile truck. The 92-year-old second owner owned it since around 1980 and it was sold on his behalf by his son who believed the mileage was original. With the overall condition of the exterior and interior as well as the original engine and transmission in place and no signs of rebuild, we believe this to be a 42k original mile truck.

The Camper Special package came with: camper body wiring harness, heavy-duty front and rear springs, heavy-duty front and rear shock absorbers, heavy duty front stabilizer bar, rear stabilizer bar, and camper special nameplate.
Body Condition: The doors, hood, and tailgate open and close smoothly and solidly. It received a quality repaint at some point in its life. The paint has held up well and shines beautifully. This is a very presentable driver quality paint. It has its fair share of chips and scratches but still presents very well and turns heads. The truck looks to be basically rust-free with the exception of a few very small bubbles in the paint on the very front of the hood, behind the wind deflector. There does seem to have been some rust repair done at some point on the very outside lower corners of both doors and the passenger side rocker and cab corner. Its held up well and looks like it will continue to hold up for years to come. The undercarriage is very solid and dry. The interior is clean, comfortable, and in very nice original condition. There a few splits on the driver side of the bench and a rip in the carpeting on both the driver and passenger sides. All the trim, chrome, and emblems are present and are in very good condition. All the glass is good.
Mechanical Condition: This 454 C30 starts, idles, shifts, steers, and stops great. The truck was very well maintained and it shows. The engine, transmission, and overall ride are amazingly smooth. You can drive this truck anywhere. It is solid and rides without the usual squeaks and sounds you would normally expect of a truck of this age. The AC system will need to be gone through but all the components are there. The exhaust system has cherry bombs and they give the 454 a nice throaty growl. The front tires have about 60% tread. The outer rear tires have about 75% tread and the inner rear tires look to be new.

The fact that you suggested this is better than a modern truck… LOL
Thats beautiful, lots of years left in her to tow all my toys around.
It seems all cars listed here are believed to be original miles which statistically would be impossible.
From a time when the only time you bought a dually, was to haul something, not to replace the family sedan like today. Gas mileage, again, should be the last of your concerns with this, is about 10 mpg, and it’s a C30, one ton, and is going to ride like one. When empty, unless you’ve experienced the ride of a C30 dually, it’s very annoying, like bobtail in a semi tractor. You feel every tar strip. It’s a great truck here, just make sure you know what you’re buying.
The solution, Howard A, is to buy the crew cab version. The longer cab smooths out those bumps and it feels close to a regular pickup.
Mine’s an ’80 from Texas. No rust to speak of and perfect for pulling trailers, houses and tree stumps.
The plan is to paint it like this “Indy Hauler.”
