From Angry Jonny – I found this beauty on the Facebook page of a local auto recycler. A quick phone inquiry got a quote of $3,000. It was unclear if the original engine or the 390 that came with the car when it was dropped off is in the trunk, but at any rate, there’s a headless 390 or 352 in the back. The heads are sitting on the floor in the front. The seller says it’s pretty solid, and for a Minnesota car, it appears that way. Is $3,000 for a car with two engines in varying states of disrepair an economical start?

I think the car is doable at $1500.00 if all parts are present. If the engine aren’t numbers matching in this case it doesn’t matter; make a hell of a nice driver out of it and enjoy.
Gotta know about rust first, car has to be complete too, then it might get 2000 or 2500. Love fastback 65 galaxies and 67 Fairlanes.
As long as there is about $2K in the glove box, it’s a good deal.
$3K for something they probably gave $50 for. Nice.
Check good for rust especially the frame, they rotted out on these. 3 large sounds high.

As Gaspumpchas said, check the frame. Most notably in front of the rear wheels.

Being a Minnesota car, I would suspect it is rusty underneath
but if it was an AZ car relocated to MN it might be ok
Ditto for me too. The body looks great,
and so does the interior. But as you
gentlemen have already stated, frame
rot on these cars is a scary proposition
that makes people shy away from most
all Fords of this era. That’s why you don’t
see too many of these at your local car
show. Look it over good Jonny, all sales
are final!
If you like it and want it and it’s not a complete rust bucket and you are not looking to flip it for a profit go for it. Take another set of eyes with you that won’t be emotionally attached to it when you inspect it.
What part of Minnesota is it in? If it snuck over the border from North Dakota, you might be alright rust wise, N.D. didn’t use road salt. If it was a 500XL with bucket seats, console, AM/FM, power everything, swing away steering column, and safety convenience panel, it might be worth two grand in this condition as a parts car. As is, no way, unless you’re desperate for a ’65. Someone already noted, not many survived, because of rust.
