Riviera Smooth: 1968 Buick Riviera

'68 Riviera front left

In 1968 Buick built 49,284 Rivieras and they were offered new with a list price of $5,245. This one is listed here on craigslist in St. Louis, Missouri and is parked in Swansea, Illinois with a price of $6.5K.

'68 Riviera engine

The original running 430 cubic inch V-8 engine is ready to take you for a spin. It looks like it could use some detailing, but this is otherwise a clean engine bay!

It appears the next owner may wish to recover the seats and after a good cleaning maybe remove some of the air-freshers.  The next owner may also want to replace the missing radio too? Of course if you don’t mind the current seat covers, you could always just drive it as is.

'68 Riviera rear

The rear of the car is looking good. The next buyer may wish to ask if the car cover is included with the purchase. Is it just us or does the back look like the front of a car from this angle?

Rick, the owner, says there is new paint and tires on this ’68. The car runs and is said to be a great driver. It appears that Buick didn’t offer a two-tone Riviera, so it’s definitely a custom touch. What do you think about the color scheme?

Motor-on,
Robert

I luv the styling, the 430 plant was a “torque monster” I believe, and coupled with a turbo 400 tranny is great! This would make a unique cruiser. Price is a bit high, 4K$ is fair, imo.

A bit high but appears to be decent. I never cared much for this styling but as it gets older(or I do), I like it better..lower it in the weeds n take it to the car cruises. 2-tone combo does nothing for it.

I had one of these dreadful beasts a few years ago and couldn’t give it away. It finally went for scrap @ $300.

Im not sure about the 2-tone paint either. The colors are a good choice and overall the car looks good though. I also agree that these have become more appealing to the eye as I get older. I think the price is not unreasonable but for that ask I would expect the interior to be in better condition. I have found that most CL sellers dont advertise with figure they have in mind as their bottom dollar. I have got cars for half of what the seller originally advertised for a The whitewall tires wouldnt stay if it were mine and I would remove at least 9 of the air fresheners right away but it does appear like its ready to enjoy starting with the drive home.

I like the paint job, we had a ’86 Continental with the same colors. I’m not so sure about $6500, I’d have to agree that if it’s a runner it is worth more like $3000 -$4000. He could of at least put in a radio.

how much dope was smoked in that car to need all those air fresheners? or was it a body? hard to tell if the two tone rocks this car or not because there are no good shots from a side view. i like this styling and always have – would be a fun boulevard cruiser. if one could get it for 4k it would be a good purchase assuming the mechanicals are mostly correct.
