On our way back to Barn Finds HQ, we recently spotted something rather unusual loaded up on a car hauler just outside the office. With a Dodge truck behind it, an SUV almost touching the windshield, and a minivan over the tail it was a bit difficult to identify exactly what this car was, so we had to circle back around for another pass. Usually, you don’t see high dollar supercars being transported on an open trailer with mundane daily drivers, but sitting there in it’s wrecked state was a real deal Lamborghini! The truck driver wasn’t around, so we have no way of knowing what the story is behind it, but it definitely hit something hard.
Given the close quarters and not wanting to risk making the truck driver upset, if they did happen to be around, we couldn’t get a real good look at the car. From what can be seen though, this appears to be a Huracan. Lamborghini debuted this model in 2014 and is still building them today. It’s hard to tell for sure, but this looks like a 2016 model to me. What do you think?
I can’t imagine wrecking a six-figure car, but given all the power the mid-mounted V10 produces it’s easy to see how things could get out of hand quickly. It really would be interesting to know what exactly happened and whether it was totaled and sold off by the insurance company or if it’s on it’s way to a Lamborghini dealership for rebuilding. Given how much of the front structure looks to be bolted on plastic, rebuilding it probably wouldn’t be all that difficult if you had the parts. Who knows, it might just end up parked in a barn to await a restoration that will never happen.
Hmmm… perhaps it could be used to create a Fierro replica? LOL!
That’s a very funny comment! Kudos to David Frank.
My thought instantly , I would love to pick it up and Swap the entire drive train into an RCR race car replicas Lola T-70 . . .Wouldn’t that be the ducks nuts .
They will fix it up one day. It looks easy on TV!
10 days, tops, and a $40k profit to boot!
I guess that’s one way to get it to fit in the short slot behind the tractor…
It will buff out no worries!
Potentially going to a private buyer too. A While ago someone pointed out that a salvage title on a supercar makes it almost worthless – even if it’s been repaired. The solution? Sell the car as is and fix it without assistance from the insurance. It avoids being branded w a salvage title and the owner received *some* compensation.
Watch videos online of Lambo owners trying to show off for people and wreciking these. It happens a lot! I guess they can’t help it, but man it looks humiliating…..
The same thing happens at many car shows. Just search “car show crash”, the stupidity isn’t limited to the owners exotics. It’s the same thing every time, the crowd eggs on the people leaving a show, then howl like a pack of baboons when someone runs their car into a ditch or a wall.
It looks to me like it happened right there on the hauler! “Sorry boss, must have forgotten to put in the pin”
My thoughts exactly!
Had to be a interesting story to it. A driver unprepared to handle it but with more money than brains? The driver trying to look cool and failing miserably? Hit by a teen who ran a stop sign while busy texting? A frazzled soccer mom running late to pick up the kids? A mullet sporting Joe Dirt in his ’94 Dodge Neon on his way to 7-11 to get another half case of beer? The possibilities are endless. But sadly, we will never know.
Could have been on its way to Copart
Somewhere somehow I’m sure there’s a Cars & Coffee connection.
The poor slob that used to own it! All those stories. Lol. Parts funny. Parts not. I don’t even want to speculate. Lol
Oh come on. Deep down you have speculated and really do want to know the back story. You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t.
I never learned the back story on a late 70s Porsche, I believe it was a 930 Turbo. Its back end was all crumpled up like it had fallen off the transport truck. It was the first time I had seen a car of that caliber mixed with the Chrysler products I would check in. I do remember that it had dripped brake fluid onto the hood of a Cordoba that was underneath it. I guess that transportation warranty claim was charged back to the trucking company who added it to the Porsche claim.
Probably headed for a rebuilder in Alabama or Tennessee
I think that if you drive one of these type of cars,
or Class A motorhomes, that you should have a seperate class
of license,& also take a driving course for each.
There seems to be a problem with the ability to manage notifications on the barn finds website. I click on “manage notifications” it tells me that it sent me a link to turn off notifications on this post and the link does arrive but it has no link or content in the email and I’ve tried it several times. Can anybody advise how to shut off notifications for this post or can the barn find people please fix the “manage notifications” link. Thank you
I hear you Chas, only I do not get the new comments. Tryed a couple things with no luck. Been happening for months.
Maybe you just could have asked the Truck driver.
WTF ?
