1920’s Barn Find Fire Engine: Keystone Water Tower

c1

We’ve looked at some great old fire engines lately, and this one may be the best one of them all! Featuring a real pump and bell, what more could you ask for! It’s located in Bridgewater, Massachusetts and is up for sale here on eBay.

Unfortunately, the nozzle of this particular Keystone appears to be missing. While I couldn’t find a picture of an excellent example of this model, I did find one that was close.

As you can see, there should be a nozzle on the end of the boom. I didn’t find that many that have the optional seat that our featured barn find has, so despite the ergonomic issues, this find may be something special for that person that just wants to hog all the glory for themselves. I’m not really sure what the front area for mini-people is for; obviously the rear seat rider is in control!

The seller was kind enough to provide an underbody view, although I’m not exactly sure whether rolling the vehicle on it’s side was the best way to do that. I’m assuming the rear wheel was removed to show access, but I’m questioning what happened to the differential on that rear axle–that might make turning tight corners difficult!

I’m not sure if the lettering is real gold leaf like many fire engines wear; it looks a little dull for that! Perhaps this is an imitation version? I’d want to do an in-person inspection to verify pump functionality as well. It will be interesting to see how this great old engine does compared to sales like this one or this one. What do you think? And Happy April Fool’s Day!

Idk if this was supposed to be an April Fools prank or not, but old toys and pedal cars are cool. Looks like this one might be missing the tank too.

YES the old toys are very cool, most kids today will never know the fun of imagining you are the fireman or road builder playing with these toys, instead they all want to be super heros and will surely be disappointed when they grow up.

I have had some old toys thinking might be worth something some day but the kids don’t care about them they have little value.
