After sitting for 57 years, this 1941 Chevrolet Special Deluxe has been given a new lease on life. The current seller pulled this Chevy from its long standing resting place and revived this sweet 2 door classic. Drivable, this Chevy still needs a few minor things to be completely road worthy. The tried and true Chevrolet 216 was awakened after its lengthy slumber and is reported as being a good runner. I would assume that the fuel system needed a fair amount of attention after a 57 year hibernation, and I would also guess that a tune up was in order as well. The seller clearly notates having to install a new exhaust, as well as a brake master cylinder, and 4 wheel cylinders. While that is a good start to reviving this Chevy, I am sure there are a few more things that could be given attention as well.
Although a bit water stained, the interior looks to have survived for the most part. The 1941 upholstery is in place, but the interior will need to be reupholstered. Although for the time being, the blanket on the front bench seat scenario could work for a while.
Although peppered with surface rust on the exterior, this Chevy is described as being quite solid. Apparently the only rot to contend with is in the spare tire well. The paint has worn this over time, but it seems this type of appearance has become popular and acceptable by many. So a good cleaning, and boiled linseed oil could preserve this well weathered look. At one point or another the trunk lid has been bumped, although thankfully it appears minor. Beyond one missing rear bumper guard, the rest of the trim on this Chevy appears to be accounted for. Miraculously the underside of this Chevy is very reasonable with what appears to be only surface rust. What direction would you take this ’41 Chevrolet Special Deluxe?
Kick life into it, a thorough cleaning, yank that old crankdipper motor and reckon with its issues, stick it and a new clutch right back in, spend an afternoon pounding a piece of Maytag or Speed Queen sheetmetal into floor patches, stitch it all in with the cheap MiG you gave yourself for Christmas, and let this splendid machine spend its dotage in its current marvelous state.

F again, Great commentary. I’d like to see a nice single stage paintjob, as the body looks really solid. Good luck to the new owner. If the 216 is in good shape, run it, but avoid really crankin’ on it!

Thanks. With a bit of care, and not leaning on ’em too hard, those old Stovebolts last and last. I’m a sucker for beat-up but sweet-running vehicles so I’d blow a kiss to the finish- it’s earned the right to wear its wear proudly.
I always liked these cars. A neighbor down the road a couple miles had one just like this. Their daughter was the same age as me. Dianne was a nice girl who passed away at a young age from Leukemia, therefore I would name this car Dianne. The 50’s was a good time to grow up in rural America.

This is another good driver quality car at an OK price point!! I mean you can get a lot less for a lot more but a running driving pre war classic like this is a far cry better than most of the other junk out there!!
It’s interesting to see that somewhere along the line someone decided to install the stainless medallions under the taillamps. Chevrolet didn’t start that until the 1947 model year & continued for ’48 as well. Fleetline & Fleetmaster models only, none for the entry level Stylemaster…….
