In some cases, it appears, the little ones maybe worth more then the full size version. Listed here on eBay is this all original Ichida Diamond Fingers 001 Chevrolet Corvette with a BIN of, wait for it, $2,595!
According to the seller this model is all original, 30cm long and in mint condition. When the model is running 2 lighted guns pop up from the bonnet with a “ratatata” sound.
This model is battery operated, working perfectly, with bright paint. There is one taillight missing. Overall, it looks to be in great shape for an old toy!
And now another one for you to consideration. Listed here on eBay is this Mercury Lancia (Ferrari) D-24, Art 83 with a BIN of $3,500. This is a motorized model that was produced in Italy. The owner does not think all the parts are there and doesn’t know if the motor is in working order. How can an incomplete model be worth so much money?
Listed here on eBay is another Mercury Lancia Ferrari D24 Ascari 1000 Miglia 1954 Fangio with a, you may not believe it, BIN of $9,595! That’s some serious money.
Here is a German produced Gama #300 1952 Cadillac in the original Turquoise & Cream finish listed here on eBay for a more reasonable sum of $2,895.

In this package you also get the original box and hang tap. It is nice to see the underside, we only wish it was this simple to photograph the underside of a full size car! This is just a very small over view of some of the small cars for big money that are out there. These are easy to store, you don’t have to winterize them, there is no need to start them once a week, but you can’t drive them. That’s what your daily driver and weekend sunny day driver is for, isn’t it?

at those prices i wish i had taken care of the models i had as a child. instead i had too much fun hotrodding them etc. very interesting.
This one was a find of my own a few years back, when my mother decided to have a giant garage sale. I put in batteries and it fired right up! Runs and drives, no rust, missing some trim pieces and sporting the dents and dings that come with a hard life. Luckily I was able to save it, and it now resides on my bookshelf in unrestored condition :-)
Tin toys get some very serious money. I don’t get it, but I’ve sold old models, toys ( plastic, slush cast and tin) and have been surprised at how much they bring.
The “buy it now” prices on ebay are ludicrous at best. Generally speaking. But, I wouldn’t doubt that 30 to 50% of the prices asking are right on the money for these toys. Still a hefty amount.
