With the second-generation Dodge Charger having achieved royalty status, there’s a market for just about any example, whether it’s in need of a full restoration or already a showpiece. However, it’s always nice to come across one that’s sort of in-between, such as this 1968 model here on eBay. This one’s running and has already received some sheet metal repairs, but there’s more to do here, should the next owner want to continue bringing this cool black Mopar up a few more levels. Several admirers have already raised the high bid up to $30,200, so head on up to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, if you want to check this Charger out in person before deciding how much you’re willing to spend.

We don’t get much of a back story here, nor does the seller mention if the work that has already been done was performed by him. What we are told is that this one’s had the quarter panels, trunk pan, and floors replaced, with the body now claimed to be very straight and solid. There’s no mention of whether black was the original color, plus no fender tag is present, and the condition of the paint is listed as fair. Looking around at the photos, that sounds like a fair assessment, so perhaps another respray would be in order at some point.

It’s also not stated if the 383 under the hood is the original engine, but a short video of the Charger being driven is provided, with the big block sounding healthy and having a pleasant rumble. It’s presently running on fuel sourced from a one-gallon gas can, but a new tank is included in the sale, so hopefully, not too much more will be needed before this one’s ready to hit the road again. There’s also no word on whether the automatic transmission is the factory component, nor any information on its current state of health.

It doesn’t appear that much attention has been given to the interior yet, but most of the parts seem to still be present, with the top of the console and the area around the radio being a couple of exceptions. The Tic Toc Tach has less aging than the other instruments, so it may have been added later, and there’s no information on which of those dash instruments are still functioning. While some work is still needed here, I believe this 1968 Dodge Charger is well on the way to becoming a very nice and enjoyable ride. What do you think?

Looks like a badge-engieered R/T to me.
I bought a 68 charger in 1977 for $300. I totally ruined 2 automatic transmission’s learning how to power brake. Boy do I regret that.
This is right near me. Almost swear this is the same car that sold on Ebay just a few months ago. The VIN would tag it as a factory 318ci car. A factory R/T would have come with the 440 magnum as standard with the 426 hemi as the only option.
SOLD for $53,100.
