Storage Cart: 1973 Cadillac DeVille

caddy1

It took me a minute to spot this 1973 Cadillac DeVille here on eBay since it’s being used more as a large storage cart or shelving unit than as a car. This beautiful Caddy actually appears to be in very nice shape despite its current parking arrangement, and shares space with some other nice rides. The dusty DeVille is located in Texas with a Buy-It-Now of $7,500.

That’s better – now you can see that pretty, three-eyed face. The Cadillac has been with the seller for the last 30 years, and he bought it from the original owner. After putting 30,000 miles on the clock, he parked it in his warehouse where it has sat ever since. I really do need to invest in a warehouse – you can sock away all sorts of interesting possessions! The Caddy is said to wear original paint and have never been in an accident.

The interior is eye-catching, to say the least, and looks to be in fabulous condition. The seller claims it is all-original, and the rest looks just as fresh with a crack-free dash and original floor mats. Fitted with power seats, windows and antenna, this DeVille was the lap of luxury when new. No word on if the A/C works, but I’d assume it has definitely lost its charge after sitting for so many years. No matter how long it’s been sitting, this Caddy appears to have been loved when it was running.

I’m impressed that the wall of dust coating the exterior has found its way under the hood. The 472 V8 is paired to a Turbo 400 automatic and was functional when parked. The seller makes no mention of attempting to start it, or whether the engine has any known issues. I’m optimistic it wouldn’t take too much work to get this DeVille rumbling down the road again, and hopefully the seller has some maintenance records with the vehicle. Would you continue using it for storage or hit the open road?

My friends Mom had a Coupe De’Ville and his Grandmother did not want to ride in a car that was called a Coop Devil! This looks like a nice one probably an easy project and built to last before the gas crunch took so many off the road.

Just left the owner a $1500.00 offer. After sitting for 20 years……After rebuilding the trans, flushing ALL the fluids (coolant, engine oil, brake, ect…..), and pulling the gas tank, and probably replacing it, and putting new tires on this horse, rebuilding the carb and doing a complete tune-up, and then considering it runs like a top, it might bring 5k.

I don’t understand how cars just end up sitting like this. People just park perfectly good cars and let them rot?

How is this one rotting? It is out of the weather…Now the ones sitting out in the weather, that the owner is “going to fix up”…

Dad had a white on white ’73 Coupe that I took to Prom. My favorite memory of that car was pulling a trailer out to California (from Illinois) with my parents. They fell asleep, and I ran close to 100 all night long crossing the desert. Beautiful car, but had NUMEROUS electrical problems…you would hope the owner worked out the electrical bugs in the 80,000 or so miles…

I love how the engine bay was used for “storage.” That picture cracks me up… I guess it’s better to have the hood open so that the stuff stacked there wouldn’t scratch the paint on the hood. At least the guy was thinking about that!

    I’ve got two of em…
One in the same color combo,
    (wht/wht top/red leather int)
    And the other one,
    (red/wht top/wht leather int)
They’re amazing old dinosaurs that don’t disappoint…at Shows, or Cruising…
