Stored 23 Years! 1969 Dodge Charger 440 Four-Speed

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Some ten years after a certain TV Show featuring a ’69 Charger ended, this 1969 Dodge Charger 440 four-speed went into storage. At some point it benefited from work performed en route to a never-completed restoration. Now this iconic muscle car in The Dalles, Oregon could be yours with the winning bid here on eBay, where bidding beyond $10,500 has apparently met the reserve. The listing includes a bundle of original and new parts.

The Decoder at mymopar.com appears to confirm the seller’s notes and what you see here:  383 cid four-speed ’69 Charger with F8 Dark Green paint (visible on the package shelf), black bucket-seat interior, and wood-grain console. The “V1F” code indicates a green vinyl top which may have been replaced or dyed black.

Some clean-up might help better determine this Charger’s value, but the pictures support the claim of lengthy indoor storage in a dry climate. Any 1969 Charger that doesn’t have an “01” crudely spray-painted on the doors makes for a good barn find, and demand for restored specimens should continue for some years to come.

Someone evicted the original 383 from this location sometime in the past, and the car comes with a 440 that will need (at least) a new camshaft. Replacements for some of the damaged body panels come with the sale. It will need a mountain of work, but this Charger appears to be far more sturdy than a typical abandoned relic dragged out of a field with a Ford 9N. Would you go for the full-stock restoration, or something different?

I don’t have enough life left to tackle a project like this, and I don’t have the desire to do so.

Give it to one of the car shows and give them a 1 week deadline.

That’s what the two second gens went for here in SD at that sale in June; and they were little more than yard art.

It will be nice, but if you’re not doing the major work including paint and body yourself at a cost of how much?

Man, I feel so stupid to have passed on a daily driven Charger like this that was a 440 4 speed, all stock(rare at the time), for a grand back in ’85, never saw it coming back then, nor did the guy selling it. The price of admission is out of sight nowadays.

I’m thankful I parted with $3250 back in the early 90’s for a running and driving field find 69 R/T. The levels these are reaching is astronomical, when will it end?

If one of the Barn Find readers had bought one of the fire trucks listed here in the last few weeks maybe they could have traded him for the Charger.

I’ve seen far worse for more money. It’s rough, but what 68-69 Charger in this price range isn’t.
