Sweet Shop Truck: 1932 Ford Model BB Wrecker

Imagine the stories this old truck could tell! 1932 Fords are some of the most sought after cars and trucks in the collector car hobby and to see a heavy-duty truck like this BB survive for nearly 90 years is a rare sight. It can be found here on eBay with a current bid over $10,000 the reserve hasn’t been met yet. Located in Clarklake, Michigan, there isn’t much information in the ad regarding the backstory. Overall, it has a great appearance and would make an awesome rig to cruise around in. Have a look.

The ad says “with a little tinkering” the original 4-cylinder started right up. It looks like there was work done to the fuel system and new spark plugs, but the seller doesn’t detail anything else. The engine is mated to a manual transmission and it doesn’t leak or smoke.

The interior is pretty basic as you would expect. I’m guessing the seats have been recovered at some point, but they may be original. The seller does say there is no rust on the cab and only some outer rust on the doors.

This truck has a great look with the vintage Weaver boom and welding equipment in the back. “Hyde Road Salvage” appears to be a classic car sales business. In fact, they’ve featured a similar tow truck on their Facebook page. I’m guessing they have a really talented artist that does amazing weathered graphics. The “23 1/2 hour service” is a humorous touch to the side of the bed. Overall, a pretty awesome truck. What do you think?

You could cruise around in it if you are content with 25MPH top speed. Even then, you would be pushing your luck.

Back when a car was just hooked to a cable and towed away. Imagine trying to do something like that these days. No lights on the towed car, no brakes, no safety chains, it just swings behind the tow truck suspended on a single cable.
    Man those were the days.
    God bless America

Love it! Image that with a Model A behind it, that would be a sight.

buddy has 1 since owning a garage in downtown Wellesley, MA (Albert B, Morse). I think the RedLine came thru, knocked out the back 1/2 of his property, and he went onto wrenchin for the (same twn) State Police cruiser’s garage on the Pike. His truck has a shorter back end and is now used only on the home acreage for engine pulls, etc. BUT…it still has a hand cranked lift, not sure he ever motor tied it.

sorry that is a 1933 ,not a 32 . 32’s have a bolt in firewall , a straight standing grill and hood ends straight ,not angled back like this one on the front. the dash on a 32 has a removeable gage panel, it was also nickel plated with jeweled finish . ask the 32 guys if you dont believe me i have owned a 32 for several years and another i sold a few years ago . i just hate to see stuff miss repesented

I have what I think is a 32 BB with a pickup bed configuration from Briggs. The truck needs restored but is in great shape. From what I can gather, there were only around 500 of this configuration made. How would I find out what the truck is worth?
