After suffering a side impact, the previous owner stashed this 911 away with hopes of restoring it some day. Well, 20 years later it has wound up in the current seller’s hands and things look pretty sad. The engine is out and plenty of rust has set in. That hasn’t deterred a few optimistic Porsche enthusiasts from bidding it up here on eBay though. Sometimes you just have to wonder how many of these old cars just swap hands without ever seeing any real improvement. Well, I hope this one finds a good home where the restoration can be completed. What do you think – will ever see the road again?
Bid is already at 13g for this non running mess? I bought a 74 911 Targa that looked nice and ran good for 5000 in 2001. I was offered 8500 in 2004 so I sold it thinking what a good profit. What a dope I was for selling it. In only 10 or so years, have these cars have really climbed that much in value?
It’s not value so much as what people are willing to pay for them and people are willing to pay absurd amounts. The buyer will likely be someone who plans to fix it and sell it for a handsome profit. The concern, of course, is the quality, or lack there of, of the repair work.
Looks like a twist across the front frame, but other than that, not too bad. Hope it get’s repaired properly,and someone really enjoys it again!

Agree with Mr Bond, the unibody is twisted from the RF impact. There us no mileage given in the listing even tho all the guages are present in the dash, and it looks like it racked up some pretty hard use before it was laid up. Engine/transaxle are out, so maybe they needed some R&R too, which the owner “never got to”.
This car needs more than everything, because before you can even think of dealing with its regular needs you will have to get the body square to even have a shot at making it a driver again. From what I see that’s far from certain.
But look at the bright side: if the bid doesn’t go too much higher the lucky winner will probably be able to get his money back by parting it out even if the hulk is toast. Then all he has to do is leave the hulk out in a field until it has a nice coating of iron oxide, then put it on Ebay, as usual.

I prefer the hardtop Porsche’s I think the Targa interrupts the design of the car unless its a soft window Targa which gives you a good breeze like a convertible the only Targa I would take would be a soft window.

A relative bargain compared to the 356 prices as of late and a better car too.
