Top Banana: 1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye Side

Often the excitement of a barn find is the idea of getting something special for a low price. Well we found this 1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye that we think is a bargain. This Challenger is in pieces right now, but all the parts are there plus some great extras. If you’re in the market for a Mopar project car, this one can be found in Dayton Ohio on eBay with a current bid of $3,050 and no reserve.

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye Front Corner

Someone had obviously planned to restore this car, but just never got around to it. The sale includes most of the parts that are needed to restore this car, including all new sheet metal panels from Goodmark. While the outside is rusty, the frame and floors look solid..

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye Engine Bay

Obviously the engine is out of the car, but it’s the original 340 V8 and is included with the car. The engine has already had some work done to it and includes some upgrades, such as a higher performance cam and a new aluminum Edelbrock high rise intake. While the engine is out we would go ahead and re-spray engine bay in the original high intensity Top Banana yellow color.

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye Interior

Another plus for this project is the interior, which is not only intact, but in excellent shape. It’s not show quality, but it would work for a driver. We really like the Rallye gauges and are glad they are still present.

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye Rear Corner

This car is going to take a lot of work to finish, but with all the parts that are included with the sale it shouldn’t cost much more than the purchase price to complete. This car is being offered at no reserve, so this car could end up being a bargain for an amazing muscle car. We hope the new owner keeps it as original as possible.

Various pieces of evidence raises the question if this is was (legally) acquired under a mechanics’ lein.
