At first glance, you might not give this find a second look. The photos don’t reveal much and the $50,000 asking price seems a bit absurd for two Camaros, but read the seller’s ad and you’ll discover that one of those Camaros is claimed to be a Z/28! If that’s truly the case, this suddenly went from being a find you might skip right over to being one worth traveling to Fairmount City, Illinois to have a closer look at. You can find this pair sitting in a 45-foot trailer with spare parts, which all seem to be included in the deal, here on craigslist and thanks go out to Bobby M for this tip!
I know this is a huge gamble since the seller doesn’t offer much information, but even if these are both base model Camaros, it seems like a decent buy when you consider that your also getting the trailer to haul them home in. How great is that? Set up a time to view them, if the Z/28 checks out, make a deal, hook the trailer up and go! Of course, we don’t know what condition the trailer is in, so it might not be that simple. If it is, it could prove to be the kind of stories we’ve all heard and brushed off as being pure fantasy!
Since the seller doesn’t provide any evidence that this one really is a Z/28, your definitely going to want to inspect it carefully before making any offers. Of the early Camaro Z/28s, 1968 is the most difficult to verify, as the trim plate doesn’t have a code for the Z/28 option like ’67 and ’69s do. You’re going to need to find the Protect-O-Plate or the other factory documentations. There are a lot of ifs here, so hopefully, the seller is willing to negotiate on the price. So, will you be making a trip to Fairmont City to inspect this pair? And if so, please send us photos!
If the front fender of the blue Camaro is indicative of the cars condition, good luck. Who bondo’s over rust on a front fender?
Steve R
Sadly Steve, there are a LOT of idiots out there doing that ! UGH !
NOTE TO THE SELLER – IF you have a real Z28 you have something BUT you need to prove it. Does the Z28 have the 302 motor in it OR is it missing thus value just went WAY DOWN.
Need better rust / rot perspectives of the cars too.
Agreed, terrible write up, can you at least get in the trailer, get some light on / photos of the data tags, engine block numbers (especially in the supposed Z 28). Manual trans or autos?
Is the RS supposed to be the Z 28 also….that would be extra rare IF real. I don’t remember if the RS Z28 had the ‘Rally Sport” emblem on the fender as well as the Z 28 at the front? I know if an RS/SS, the SS emblems superseded the RS.
I don’t recall production numbers on Z28’s but I THINK it was like 600 in 67 and 1400 in 68? Not many, that is for sure.
Someone tried to fix the trunk floor of my 1968 Mustang with aluminum sheets slathered in bondo. No bodywork sins surprise me anymore.
I fixed the trunk floor of my 67 Falcon with old real estate signs and a bucket of roofing tar , but that was over 40 years ago and I was only 16
The Craigslist ad is pretty crappy for $50,000. 3 terrible pictures and very little info. Definitely requires a personal inspection and more details. I’m thinking the ask is pretty high, Z28 or not……………. but what do I know; I’m a FordGuy. The trailer is probably not roadworthy either.
Sitting at home thinkin’, “Hmmmm, I have two Camaros that people will probably be interested in. Why don’t I put them up for sale for ‘I don’t know…..50 g’s?’. I will include a couple of pictures and a trailer, and sit back and wait for all of the calls to come in!”. Ridiculous what people do now! To me,(aside from something catastrophic happening, or being suddenly ill), this is a direct reflection of the owner and how the cars were managed or not properly taken care of. If you can’t get to the cars for pictures, how about stating that in the ad? I know he said that hoods were in the way of the car in the back. But after that, there still was no write up. Colors, owner history, vehicle specifics, running or not. You get my point. I’m sure that not everyone will agree, but tall order for a big asking price…
In the photos the 67 is hard to see since there are the hoods and fenders in the way.
Hmm how bout moving the hoods and fenders then? How would you expect anyone to show any interest when advertised like this? Craigslist is good, but its like the wild west–anything can happen and its unregulated. Have some dialog with the seller and if its your cup o’ tea, road trip. Might be an opportunity. Good luck and stay safe.
Cheers

So this clown provide three awful pics, wants $50k and maybe one of the two Camaros is a Z/28. Perhaps $10k for the pair if this is even legit.
Can’t justify that kind of money on the BIG if. Next the seller will say it’s a convertible Z/28
Careful, if the seller cleans this junk up and takes three more pics the price could double!
How many times do people on this site have to talk about the quality or lack of photos for a car???? Who in there right mind would ever hand over $50 large for 2 cars with no documentation and a few crappy pictures???? If you really want to sell your car do the right thing!!!!
Two piles of crap. Pass. The person that buys them has more .money than brains.
Wouldn,t it be nice if the tax man came in and told him if he was asking $50,000 for the cars. He had to pay taxes at his price on them? I,d bet he would lower the price big time. Some people think when they see one fixed up and sales for a big price. Their worth it too. I,d like to see a survery on hear–to see how much he THINKS WILL BE OFFERED
Just sent the seller an email asking for some documentation that the z28 is a real z28
Quick, someone call Dennis and tell him there are two Holy Grails in a trailer.
Best comment of the week! LMAO!
