This 1973 Volkswagen Thing comes with a very interesting story.  The garage where it was stored burned down with the car inside it.  They decided to rebuild it and they made a one of a kind ride.  You can find this car up for sale here on eBay, with the reserve not met at $3,000 and two days to go in the auction.

I honestly don’t know how I feel about this car, but it is interesting.  Obviously, someone likes it because there is bidding on the car. The interior is completely custom with a very 70’s print on the seats, which matches the roof.  While I like the print itself, I personally would have picked something else for this Thing.

The seller says that they had a 1835cc Volkswagen performance engine built and that they wanted the car to be reliable. Hopefully, this car turns out to be as reliable as they wanted.  It would be a fun car to take to the beach or to just drive around during the summer.

While I can tell that someone put a lot of time and hard work into rebuilding this Thing, I don’t think it’s my kind of ride.  In my opinion, the seller personalized it too much to try and flip it. I think this is a love it or hate it kind of car.  What do you think?
