The Monte Carlo was in constant production between 1970 through 1988 as a rear-wheel-drive personal luxury coupe in the Chevrolet lineup, and after taking a seven year break, returned in 1995 with the car now pulling from the front. For the sixth and final generation, the MC retained the FWD but lost its association with the Lumina, and it also gained a sleeker body. The Monte Carlo was still a favorite among race teams, with a 2002 Pace Car edition also made available to the public in limited quantities, such as this example here on eBay. Located in Allentown, Michigan, this one can be yours right now for $10,250, but the seller is willing to hear offers as well.

Painted in Competition Yellow with Galaxy Silver ground effects, the exterior also features graphics on the fenders and quarter panels that emulate checkered flags, so no worries that you won’t get plenty of attention in traffic! Chevy apparently produced just 1,150 of these, with the car being offered here coming with a Certificate Of Authenticity bearing the unique Limited Edition number of 910 in the production sequence. The seller says the paint pretty much still shines like new, with the only listed defect outside being a small area of rust on the inner lip of the passenger side rear fender well.

The interior is also nicely preserved overall and is claimed to feature most options available at the time. Some wear can be spotted on the steering wheel, but the seats and dash appear to be free from cracks or tears, and it’s also fun to find a sunroof above. A low air sensor is illuminated for one of the tires, but more importantly, the “Change Engine Oil” prompt is on, so the time has probably arrived for some fresh 5 or 10W-30. It’s also mentioned that the A/C needs a recharge.

By this period, V8 availability had been dropped for the Monte Carlo, with power here provided by a 3.8-liter V6. The seller says this Chevy still drives like new, and lists the mileage at 104,000. This 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Pace Car sure seems like a lot of fun for around the $10k price point, and it certainly gives the visual impression that there’s more than 200 HP coming from under the hood! I could envision this one as becoming my weekend cruiser, or perhaps even a daily driver. How about you?

My neighbor across the street has One its their driver unless we got snow then they take their truck
You’re asking over 10k for a car that needs simple maintenance (oil change and AC recharge) makes me wonder what else might have been left undone. Kinda neat, but not overly fast, like an Impala with only 2 doors
I had a 2001, it was black with the pace car option. Loved it. Was great on long hiway trips. Got pretty good mileage. The 3800 engine is a very strong..
WOW! This certainly is YELLOW. It hurts my eyes just to look at it.
I will pass thank you.
Always thought this GM error looked like a stick of butter, in the sunshine. On a positive note, that 3800 engine is a great power plant.
