The Dodge Viper has also been a low production and unique vehicle. It was built as a halo car and quickly fulfilled its role as a special car that shows the engineering and design prowess of Dodge. What could be more fun that a 10 cylinder engine in a 2 door sports car? This example was found by Pat L. and we appreciate him sending it our way. This low mile 1995 Dodge Viper RT is located near San Francisco, California and is listed here on Craigslist. The seller is asking $49,900 and the listing has been up for about a week.
Under the hood is the famous 8.0 liter V10 engine. How many people can say they have driven an 8 liter powered vehicle that was not a commercial truck? The engine was rated at 400 horsepower in 1995 and 465 lb ft of torque. The 1995 Dodge Viper had a top speed of 165 mph. Where this car really shined was in the quarter mile and most magazines of the day were able to run quarter mile times in the high 12 second range. Power is transferred to the rear end via a 6 speed manual transmission. The Viper also came with electronic traction control and a positive traction rear end. The car’s drivetrain was recently serviced.
I like tan interiors. Most of my cars have always had black interiors but, with only 10,100 miles, this interior looks new. This Viper also has air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. For entertainment, a factory AM/FM cassette and CD player is installed. I wonder what year car manufacturers phased out cassette players in cars. I thought it would have been sometime in the early 1990’s but this car has one. The seller has recently replaced the tires but kept the originals.
None of the pictures in the ad are very good. Here is a shot from behind the car. The emerald green paint is a fairly rare color. The tan interior contrasts well and is striking compared to the optional gray interior which looks more sedate.
Wow another green one! Holy cow!!
Total respect for these cars and the lunatics that designed them and got them into production! But, the wheels! For heaven’s sake, design a decent looking set of wheels for it!
cheers,
BT
Yeah, they would make a billboard puke for sure, atrocious looking. They did get better later on.
I love these cars, but not the wheels, always thought they looked cheap and last minute
Wheels are the simplest thing on a vehicle to change. Very poor reason not to purchase a car. My neighbour already changed the wheels on his C8 Corvette and sold the factory wheels that were on it.
It is listed as a compact?
I believe 2001 was the last year that cassette players were available in cars. I drove both a 2001 BMW and a 2001 Porsche, and they both had factory cassette players.
The 2010 Lexus SC was the last vehicle to offer a cassette deck. Kind of cool they hung around that long. Now they are fazing out CD players.
Yep. My ’22 Bronco has no CD player and not even an Aux jack to plug one in. Bummed when I found that out.
OK. I was going to say I had a ’99 Aurora with a factory C/D and cassette player standard but then saw the Lexus comment shows Olds was still current then.
Please, please, please, can i drive it around the block once or twice maybe 3 times.
