10k Original Miles: 1994 Chevy Silverado

Finding a low-mileage, time capsule-grade example of a pickup truck made in the 1990s is harder than you might think. For starters, they weren’t seen as collectible. For another, preserving one would nullify the up-front investment in a “working” vehicle. Yet still, this 1994 Chevy Silverado here on Autotrader.com with just over 10,000 original miles exists, defying the odds of finding a modern vehicle locked away and preserved as-new.

I’m not at all surprised to see the Pennsylvania license plates on this truck. PA seems to be a natural hotbed for gently-used farm rigs, perhaps a testament to the easier living of farm owners than compared to rigs that go to work daily in the mid-west, where climates are harsh and a truck like this is often put through their paces. Perhaps its the gently rolling hills of Pennsylvania, or the Amish, or some other aspect of life there that makes trucks like these pleasant accessories on the farm rather than a tool to be used until it sharpens no more.

The interior, like so many GM interiors of this era, is covered in red cloth. The seats, of course, wear a slightly brighter shade of red compared to the dash and door panels, but it doesn’t provide much in the way of variety if you’re opposed to single-color fabric schemes. The truck is not necessarily lavishly equipped, but then there’s also less to break. The seller offers no information on how this Silverado has somehow lived a life more aligned with being parked at farmer’s markets than doing any actual work on the farm.

For $15K, you could buy a stripped-down, short-bed, 2WD used import pickup – or buy a practically brand-new Silverado from the era in which trucks were trucks and not a rolling quad cab of power side-steps, navigation systems, and temperamental turbocharged powerplants. Naturally aspirated and simple underneath, this Silverado may be a better investment than those $60K rigs you wouldn’t dare drive on a job site for fear of scratching the chrome bed extenders or metallic paint. Anyone with me? And if you’re looking for a slightly older rig, check out this 1955 model listed as an Exclusive here on Barn Finds

    That’s way too cheap.

Jeff, Highly doubtful this had anything to do with an Amish farm. Typically their vehicle of choice only comes in black, with a single horse-power motor to get them around.

8 grand rig all day long. Nothing special about that truck (having had a ’94 in almost the same colors). No shots of the engine, chassis or odometer; plastic bed liner and a Tractor Supply tool box..

Always thought these were the apex of truck styling. Probably a bold prediction, but I think we are looking at the next great truck collectible- (like the early 70’s C-20) BEFORE the prices hit the roof.

Amish owned…there’s a new one the folks in PA, NY, and Ohio can use!

Nowhere does the commentator state that it was “Amish owned”. He was referring to the pastoral settings of the Amish farms and countryside.

Nearly a clone of my ’91 with 90K miles. Didn’t need nosebleed altitude of 3/4 ton springs & tall 16″ wheels, so swapped to 1/2 ton springs & 15×8 rally wheels. No longer need pickup…probably should sell.

I have to make a comment! My mother and her husband bought a brand new one just exactly like this one! They liked it until one day my mother pulled up to the garage opened the door and the door dropped to the cement! She said that the dealer told her that they didn’t glue it on good enough! Come to find out he was serious the doors are glued on thru some sort of process! Not welded as you would think!

THESE are the years that Ford (and Dodge/Ram) started to pass up GM in trucks. These GM models are horrible looking, so much velour and plastic.

They’d been better off extending and refining the 73-87 body style for another decade or two.

I have one for this catagory too. 91 Silverado, 8ft. bed, 1/2 ton, std. cab, 2wd, ordered it new, red with black center area, red int. fully loaded, never been in snow, 70k miles. 350 auto. I’m 62yo. will probably sell it in a few more years. Only bought it because I was tired of my “friends” coming up with excuses when I needed to borrow a truck for a couple of hours (which I brought back clean and full of gas when I did borrow it). I’m in eastern Pa. too. And no the Amish never used mine! lol.

Reminds me of the higher-end trucks that farmers in my part of the world now own… they never see any farm work, they have older beaters for that. The Ram Long Horns and F150 Platinum beauties that only fetch groceries in town and go to church.
