$700 for a solid 1962 Ford Thunderbird, even one with terrible paint like this, seems like one heck of a deal. There’s only one thing…ok…two things…ok…three things wrong. But it still may be right for you! It’s located in Gazelle, California and is up for sale here on eBay, where the buy it now is only $700!

Two of the problems are actually given away by the nose high attitude in this picture. The poor ‘Bird is missing both an engine and a transmission. This is why I’m describing it as half of a project. Should you happen to have or know of a rusty 61-63 Thunderbird, this is one heck of a deal. For example, just a patch panel to repair the bottom of a front fender is $100 here. Never mind the installation effort!

It wouldn’t take much to add up to $700 quickly if you were doing rust repair. You’ll notice that while the seat is torn, the floor doesn’t even have corrosion anywhere. As a side note, those of us in the rest of the country really envy you folks in the far west with your rust free projects!

Just look at the quality metal here. I’m not saying there might not be some repairs in the lower panels, but still!

The general good condition of the car extends to the underside as well. It had me wondering why someone would pull the engine and transmission out of a perfectly good project, until we came to problem number three. You guessed it, there’s no title. Again, think of this as the body donor to a rusty second car–what could go wrong? Especially if you are close enough to pick the car up yourself.

And here’s the icing on the cake! There are lots of extra parts that go with the sale, like two extra sets of tail lights, bumpers, etc. I’m sure those could bring in some cash as well, assuming you don’t need them. Anyone got a rusty ‘Bird?
