17k Mile: 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This 1969 Chevrolet Convertible Corvette is reported to have traveled only 17,000 miles since it was new. The Corvette looks to have been well cared for and is painted in burgundy with a black interior and black convertible top. The car is listed here on eBay with 3 days remaining in the auction. There have been 15 bids on the Corvette and the bid price is up to $24,125 but the reserve has not been met. The car is located in Farmington, Massachusetts.

The car was last on the road in 1976 and was stored by a long-time owner for 44 years. The car is said to be roadworthy and runs and drives beautifully. The interior looks to be unmolested and all stock except for an odor eater pine tree hanging from the rearview mirror! The VIN (194679s721636) indicates that the car was produced by Chevrolet (1st digit). It is a Corvette (2nd digit). The third digit shows that it was equipped with a V8 engine and the fourth/fifth digits confirm it was a factory convertible (67). The six-digit indicates the year (1969) and the “s” confirms that the car was built at the St. Louis, Missouri plant.

There were 38,762 Corvettes built-in 1969. This car appears to have been built with the base 350 cubic inch V8 engine backed by a wide-ratio Muncie M20 4 speed transmission based on the console tag. The air cleaner decal indicates 370 horsepower but the optional L79 version of the 350 cubic inch V8 engine was rated at 350 horsepower. This was the last year that the L88 monster V8 was available. The ZQ3 coded 350 cubic inch V8 engine was rated at 300 gross horsepower which was the same as the prior-year L30 coded 327 cubic inch V8 engine.

The standard rear-end ratio was 3.36 for manual transmission Corvettes in 1969. The glass looks very nice but the exterior chrome shows some pitting. The 8-inch factory rally wheels are shod with modern Cooper Cobra tires. This is the first year that T-Top coupes began outselling roadsters. It would be nice to see some more pictures of the undercarriage since it has been sitting so long. Hopefully, this one gets driven and enjoyed.

Very nice! The pine scent air freshener has got to go, I close my eyes and see it blasting around like crazy, even at 25 mph.

Nice example. I had a ’69 Coupe 350/350 this same color with a saddle interior that I bought in 1982 with 52k on the clock. One of the many “wish I hadn’t sold that one” vehicles I’ve owned.

Same here I owned five Corvettes and my 69 was my second favorite Corvette. Silver with red interior 353/350 4 speed coupe. My worst year was 1981! The last Corvette I will ever own.

With today’s prices $30k is a good deal. The car presents very well and no need to think an inspection will turn out anything but positive.

That paint looks good enough to be a $15k paint job.

Great looking Vette. Finally one with all the ignition shielding in place, the only thing out of place, that I would immediately repair the fuel line to get rid of that plastic fuel filter. If it had AC and side exhaust I might be bidding!

You don’t want 69 side exhaust. Ugly and heavy in contrast to the superior 65 to 67 pipes. Yes on a/c. My 73 coupe in a hot day is almost unbearable to drive. Even with just 17,000 miles this car will need calipers and all fluids flushed. I am doing the rear calipers on my coupe today. Second time in 4 years and I drive the car. Wife says if the 73 goes, I can have this. At 30 large it is a bargain.

I have lived my entire life in Massachusetts and I am also a local trucker and back road afficianado on a motorcycle and I am 100% confident in saying there is no town in the Commonwealth named Farmington…just sayin

I don’t know where Farmington came from.
The ad claims it is located in Fall River.

Same here I spent most of my life in Northeast Massachusetts and Naples, Fl. I was thinking Framingham. Farmington is in CT.
