18k Mile Rarity: 1987 Buick Regal Limited Turbo

It’s not hard to spot a Buick Grand National with its all black paint and unique turbo emblems on the fender. It’s a little harder to spot the Grand National’s lesser-known sibling, the Regal Limited Turbo. That’s why this 1987 Buick Regal Limited Turbo, found here on eBay, is a rarer find.

The seller states that this car is only 1 out of 1,035 ever made. Of those 1,035 it would be interesting to know how many of them only have 18,000 original miles like this one does. One of the reasons that this one is so rare is because of the unique Rosewood Metallic paint. The T-Type steering wheel and luxury velour seats would seem to be a bit of an odd combination, but make this car all the intriguing.

Don’t be fooled by that color, though. Those “T” badge on the front fender really mean something. The 3.8-liter turbocharged and intercooled V6 engine is good for producing 245 horsepower and 355 foot-pounds of torque. Any unassuming street racer might be disappointed to find out how well these cars can move. One giveaway might be those cool alloy wheels and Goodyear outlined white lettered tires.

This Turbo Regal, found in Manheim, Pennsylvania, carries a Buy It Now price of $32,000 dollars. There is the option to make an offer on it, though. The rarity of what this car is and the extremely low mileage certainly would keep the price high, plus when are you going to find another one this nice?

Low miles or not, I’d have to drive it. Conserve it, but drive it, and let a generation raised on Barrett Jackson shows wonder why I painted that Grand National maroon.

Nobody will give that car a second glance in a Wal Mart parking lot.

I would break my neck if I saw it on the opposite side of the interstate!

I always preferred the non-GN versions. Same drivetrain, perfect sleeper. Too bad this one doesn’t have the dark red landau vinyl roof!

I don’t care if they give it a second glance. If I owned it. It would be mine mine, and that is all that matters. Most people don’t know the story of the car. So who cares. Coventrycat you should stay out of the Wal Mart parking lot’s anyway.

I only go there to get tires and oil changes for my Ferrari, Michael 😁

Hey, cool, it’s just a short ride away in Baron Country! Nice, nice, nice. And nobody can say they didn’t take enough pics…

It’s interesting finds like this that makes Barnfinds one of my favorite web sites

This car was on Bring a Trailer and did not hit reserve at $20,100.
For sure these are cool cars and sleepers, but at least for now, the plain T-Type vs the Grand National’s just are holding up value wise.

I ordered quite a few of those for our dealership, and in that Rosewood metallic even. But I paired it with grey interiors, and then had our stripe guy do charcoal and silver accent stripes.
The D60 edit override code allowed you to pair non recommended color combinations.
I spotted one of them in Chicago about 10 years ago, still wearing our dealer frames.
Didn’t do as many Grand Nationals, but we did earn a GNX which we sold to a local concert promoter. He half smiled when he saw it had accumulated a few test miles, by pretty much every mechanic and a few managers.
It was technically a stock car because he had not expressed an interest in it until a few weeks before it came in.

Sharp car. I can’t say I’d spend that much on it, but it’s a beaut. So much better than black, too!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these. It’s a beautiful color, and it’s nice to see something other than a black GN. I love those Limited interiors.

I’d ruin this car. Modern suspension, better seats etc. I should probably find a different one… Probably

Brad, I gave you a thumbs up, then I got to wondering what the other two ups were for. Mine was for your ruining it because that is what I would do… I hope the others are not for having to find another one…lol

Love the Rosewood cars and a Limited to boot very nice. It is low number car but still doesn’t bring the money the GN does.

This is a great find considering the low mileage. A vinyl roof would have marred the cars sporty appearance. The optional T top would have been great.

I get the rarity appeal, I do. The GN has the Darth Vader On Wheels look, though, and that would be an absolute requirement for me.

32k? Naaaaaaaaaaa For that kind of money
I would buy a new Mustang GT, much faster.

My family had one of these in a grey/blue paint scheme when I was a teenager. My buddies and I would smoke the tires off that thing on the back roads back in the day. Definitely a good sleeper!

The Connecticut State Police had a few of these prowling for speeders and all around bad guys. They sure could get to calls in a hurry.

“when are you going to find another one?”
Possibly next week considering the way things have been going around here lately!

Come on now. Sure it’s nice, but there is much more than just a color difference between this car and a G.N. The Turbo models are nice but just don’t quite get it. Where I come from in Flint MI. They were a dime a dozen. Poor mans G.N. Saw them everyday. In fact I had one of the first Turbo Coupes out back in 78. Spent more time getting to know the Buick Rep. While the car was in the shop getting new Turbo’s installed.

Maybe you’re thinking of the GNX. The Turbo Regal Limited was the second rarest spec in 1987, far less common than the GN.

    The FBI had 22 GNX’s back-in-the-day.

there use to be one just like this in my neighborhood driven by a little old man, this is when they were new, never did find out where he lived, but I did see the car one day at the local tower with the left rear quarter pushed halfway to the other side of the trunk,I’m sure it was written off as scap, what a parts car it would of made…

Another cool thing that only the Limited Regals had was that the insert in the passenger side of the dash over the glove box would light up when the dash lights were on.

Had one of these in, would you believe, a 4-door sedan Regal Limited in Silver metallic with the 3.8 turbo (she got it in the divorce & traded it, something about the turbo having problems, yeah???)….wonder how many of those were produced? They really produced them! Grand National would have been so much better!

Of ALL the cars, trucks, and other assorted stuff I’ve seen on barnfinds over the past two years, this would be very near the top of my list.

Gotta run and by me some powerball tickets…

I worked at a Buick/Cadillac dealership in the mid 80’s. I always liked these more than the Grand Nationals only because you could get them in other colors besides black. I’ve never cared for black paint or interiors. This one is a good combo and it looks like showroom condition. Of course the dealership didn’t pay a 20 year old parts department guy enough to buy one. Sigh……….

I still regret not special ordering one of these Buick Limiteds loaded out. I was 21 and selling real estate in bad neighborhoods and figured the minute I turn my back it would be gone. Instead ordered a Chevy Eurosport 4 door. It now sits in my garage in Arizona with 16K miles. Regret, regret, regret!!! 32K is way out of line for an 86 car. They were 16k sticker loaded. My Eurosport was 14k plus and I would be lucky to get 10k. Beautiful car,the way I would have ordered it plus t-tops. I still have quite a few old cars but at 64 have lost the desire to drive them. Still like looking though.

    I purchased this car.
    It’s got a great story.
It was owned by couple that ordered it new.
She choose the colors and comfort items including the rare reclining passenger seat option
He choose the go fast goodies.
It’s all original paint and in mint condition.
    They really loved this car.
    Unfortunately he passed away recently.
I’m glad I can carry the torch of ownership for this beauty.

I had a Dark Blue Regal T-Type Limited, dark blue vinyl top and interior, it was a loaded car. Did some things to it and ran 11.20’s on pump gas with drag radials. I put some steel wheels with wire hub caps on it when I wanted to go have some fun… Smoked so many cars that never expected it! I got a divorce and it had to go 😭
