1938 Willys Sedan: Hot Rod Potential?

Willys Sedan

As you know, most of these Willys have been made into dragsters and hot rods. This one, listed here on eBay, has been stored since 1960 and is in original condition. This one looks complete and there’s not much rust showing. With a BIN of $15,000 and bids starting at $9,000, perhaps the seller is asking too much. I hope someone buys this one and restores it, rather than the body being used for another project. It’s in Morganville, NJ. Oh and is that a Porsche 356 parked behind it?

The seller is right, this is to nice to cut up. This car needs to be restored to original. As to the price, the car is worth whatever a Willys fan is willing to spend.

The starting bid number is a little on the high side. If seller came down 2-3K on starting bid he may get some activity on it. Willys is somewhat of a niche car in collector circles, most Willys collectors seem to be more into the earlier 30s’ models or models from the 20s’. trouble is many older guys like me have no one in the family that wants to keep the flame alive, and our collections will get sold off when we pass.

    Definitely one to restore!
Hopefully no one rat rods it! I’ll be glad when that fad goes the way of platform shoes!
I spotted a 41 sedan in similar condition about 20 years ago. They were asking $700. I still kick myself.

Man, now THIS is a frumpy looking car. Can you imagine, in 1938, someone saying to their wife, ” Oh yeah, this Willys is just what we’re looking for”. Yeesh.

Needs to be restored to original condition. There are enough gassers and rods out there to make our eyes glaze over!
