1954 Jaguar XK120: Back From Paint

1954 Jaguar XK120

Everyone says that the E-Type is the most beautiful Jaguar around, but I personally think the XK-120 is the real looker! Just take a gander at those long following curves. Whether you agree with me or not, there is no denying the fact that a XK is highly desirable. That being so, finding one at a reasonable price can be very difficult. This 1954 example may not seem like a bargain at $60k, but if it doesn’t need too much work to finish, it just might be a steal. Go ahead and checkout the current values for this car and let us know what you think. Apparently the owners sent it out for paint, but the place that was doing the work went defunct. So, the car has fresh paint and upholstery, but needs some reassembly. Find it here on Hemmings out of North Attleboro, Massachusetts.

I could not agree more. These look so much better than the e types. Especially in race trim

I’m glad someone agrees. It’s not that I don’t get excited when an E-Type goes by, but I have never understood the claims that everyone, including Enzo Ferrari himself, thought it was the most beautiful car ever produced. The awkward shape does catch your eye, but I’d argue that these are actually more visually appealing.

Agreed on the E-Type. To my eye the shape of the E’s is somewhat incongruous, particularly the coupes. The XK is prettier. Some of Enzo’s creation are it’s equal. Even the lowly MGA is a better looking/proportioned car than an E-type.

      Greetings All,

The look is just as nice as the E.
      The ride is less sophisticated.
The comfort level exceeds the E-Type several times over.
The E always reminded me of how some women regard their footwear. “They look fantastic but they kill my feet, but they go with my outfit.

With no under bonnet or under body pictures it is difficult to tell what needs to be assembled. But it sure is nice on top.

I really do like Jags. Have owned two E-types. I like the XK series, but always thought the early 120’s look a little too “waspy” or too narrow at the doors. My preference, therefore, has been the 140’s with the higher doors. But, still, this is nice!

    I totally agree.
Short of the SS100, the XK120 is the best looker, not the 140, 150, or the XKE.
Sad that Lyons did not see that the Sports models would become the most
    desirable.

My favorite is still the E-type, but an XK-120 is a very close #2 for me (maybe even a tie!)……

I thought that by 1954, the Jags were either 140’s or 150’s.
