1960 MGA: Left For Dead

mga_b

I watched a recent episode of the BBC show Wheeler Dealers where they purchased an MGA to restore and flip. I was surprised when they cleared a fair amount of profit on a pricey restoration project, but I’ll admit the finished product re-kindled my interest in these classic British roadsters. Obviously, the Twin Cam is the hot ticket, but a basic MGA would be a fun project. This 1960 model here on eBay, however, may  be a bigger bite than I’m looking for. Even the seller acknowledges that it’s very rough and could be destined for parts car status, but with the option to submit a best offer on the $3,999 Buy-It-Now, could it be worth a shot at $2,500 or less? Let us know your thoughts below on how to use this hurting MGA.

Hi barn finds, this is a car I dug up. There is an interesting story. I had visited a man 3 years prior and bought a sunbeam alpine for $365. He had all these cars in his yard. None were for sale however. We hung out for a few hours and I left happy.
3 years later my man chatman says he has a lead on a tr6. I went along for the ride and ended up at the same address. The old man had passed and his nephew was selling everything. There was sailboats, trucks, an airplane, an airstream, motorbikes and bric a brac galore. We bought it all and are cleaning up everything and putting it back out there.
Love this site and check it out a dozen times a day. It’s really improved lately with all the featured cars and I love it.

Danger Dan , keep up the great work. Got to keep this history back on the road. Not rotting in the bushes. Although in California, how much rot can a car get into???
Great find, too bad I was not fast enough to check it online.

Keep up the great work in finding these beasts.
    Cheers

A personal inspection might reveal different but this looks very salvageable to me. I hope it is.

I am glad you are saving all these things! Too many great hoards have been crushed by families thinking everything is junk (Throwaway society).

I would suggest that more pictures of the bottom edge of these cars and underneath would help buyers very much. Too Many distant shots of the car shot at standing height. Thanks again for taking this on. I see the MGA is already gone!
