1963 Plymouth Convertible: Worth Saving?

afront

This could be promising. This 1963 Plymouth Valiant Signet Convertible was apparently imported from Canada and died in Boise, Idaho. The $2,200 asking price here on eBay could be reasonable. The seller is also offering a parts car with a good drive train for $800. Otherwise, the seller doesn’t provide much information. One might be able to have a nice little red convertible for reasonable money and not a lot of work – especially if one is not too concerned with appearance. Perhaps one of the guys near Boise could take a look if anyone is interested. Do you think there is any hope for this car?

That’s a ’63. I grew up in NW Wash State just across the border from Vancouver BC and used to see a lot of those Canadian Chrysler products around town back in the 60s. Always thought those looked bizarre, i.e. Dodge from the cowl back and Plymouth front sheet metal. The 50s ones looked really strange to me, had some even stranger names like “Crusader”

Thank you for the clarification! My roomate’s brother drove a Valiant when I was in college. Similar front end but I remembered the back end being different. Now I know… ^_^

I had a 63 with a 326 cu. in. v8. Push button transmission. Couldn’t keep drive shafts in the car at 21…. It was a lot of fun!

You mean it would have been that much harder to hold the camera over the top to get a good shot of the interior? Man! People are just too freakin’ lazy these days. They didn’t even have to open the door! Just lift your arm up a little. LOL

JW, you got that right! They should put up a sign, “Photography NOT spoken here”. This could be a good project, but the price is to high.

I couldn’t decide if they were trying to photograph the interior or the dirty glass. Given the recent craze to show dirty cars in sale ads that may have been what was going on here.

I could see this at the next Rockabilly meet, with a pinup girl behind the wheel.
